How to cover Ryan Adams version of “Wonderwall” by Oasis chords
Start Jamming...
Today's gonna be [F#] the day that they're gonna give it back to you.
By [A] now you should have somehow [F#] realized what you gotta do.
I [F#m] don't believe that anybody [F#] feels the way I do about you now.
[F#m] Everybody, this is [Bm] Spencer from My Cartoon Heart, and that was Ryan Adams' cover of Wonderwall.
I'm just gonna show you a pretty quick and easy way to play it.
Really what I'm doing here, I'm capoed on 2, which I think is, Oasis plays it in key of A.
So if we're playing a G in the key of [A#] G, capoed on 2, then we're technically [C] in A.
So [F#m] really what this is, I'm starting with [A#] an E minor chord, except really all I'm doing is I'm putting my 3rd finger down on D,
so that would be 2nd string, 3rd fret.
What I'm doing [F#m] then, I'm taking the shape of an E minor chord, but I don't really need that as much,
because really what I'm gonna do with my [F#] thumb, I'm gonna play that bass.
And then up here, with my 1st and 2nd [F#m] finger, I'm basically altering sort of a little bit between the 3rd, the 2nd, and the [F] 1st string.
He leaves that 1st string [F#m] open, so I'm going like this.
You're kind of getting that 1st string in there every time.
Then I'm switching to a G, [A] and everything else the same.
[B] D, [E] to an A.
Again, you can see that my 3rd finger stays on there pretty much the whole time.
[F#m] [B]
[F#] You can see there's not a lot going on with the left hand there, it's mainly with the right hand.
I'm basically picking between [F#m] thumb, 1st finger on [A] 3rd string, back to [F#m] thumb, 2, with 2nd finger.
And then I'm kind of alternating [F#] with, you know, you could play it with your 3rd finger if you wanted to, [F#m] that 1st string,
but I'm basically kind of doing an alternating picking pattern,
or you could do it between just thumb and 1st finger the whole time if you wanted.
So [F#] the [D#] song basically goes from E minor to G to D to A.
Pretty much the whole time except during two parts, right?
[D] When he's going, where you switch to a C.
And all [E] the roads we have to [F#] walk are winding.
That was C to D to E [D] minor.
All the lights that lead [F#m] us, they're blinding.
Right, again, [D] same thing.
There are [E] many things that I, and here [F#] we go, G, [F#m] F sharp minor to E [B] minor, right, to an A.
[E] So like to say to you, but [B] I don't know how.
A7.
[A] Cause maybe, [E] back to a C to D, [F#m] E minor to G.
You're [D] the one that saves me.
[F#m]
And after all, [B] [F#m] you're my [D]
wonderwall.
[F#] [F#m] Back to the beginning again.
[B] [F#] So you can see with my right hand, I'm not necessarily being too careful about what I play.
What I'm getting in is that bass note.
I'm always getting in the 1st string there.
Sometimes [A] I'm doing a little bit of a pick and strum pattern, okay?
[F#m] And then other times you can be a little bit more articulate and get certain strings.
Or you can
That way it kind of gives you [D#] a little bit of a drum beat in there as well.
A little bit of a rhythm to it, [A] okay?
So I hope that helps kind of navigate the song a little bit.
Wonderwall is a pretty easy song to play [E] as is, but again, it's nice to kind of, hey, like I want to do a cover of Wonderwall.
Maybe I'll do [F#] the Ryan Adams version so that it's a little easier, right?
Hope that helps and post any comments if you have any questions.
As always, I've got some
