How To Add Chords On Piano - REGGAE STYLE - Any Key Music System chords
Start Jamming...
Alright, so we're not quite finished week number four, but I just wanted to interject
something just in case you may think, why am I doing all these exercises in the NQ Music System?
You are working on your musical mind and your ear and everything that's being placed together.
Alright, so these are some of the wax on wax off methods that I use that you may think
you're not learning.
So, for example, the last progression that you did was six, [Bbm] right?
[Ab] Five, [Bbm]
six, [Fm] three.
[G] However, what if we did this?
What if we implemented our left hand approaches?
Okay, what if I implemented our left hand numbers approaches, specifically coming from
two numbers below?
I could have done three, I could have done one, but I just decided to do two.
Okay, you can do one and three on your own time.
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to say, okay, I want to play it like a little reggae style.
Now my background is a little bit of West Indian.
So instead of playing it [Bbm] like this, [Ab]
I'm going to play it a little reggae [Bbm] style.
So like,
[Ab]
[Bbm] [Fm]
[Bb] however, the difference also besides playing a little reggae like that, and as
you know, in volume three, that was like the alternating chords.
Okay, you should have completed that.
What I'm going to do is now add, like I said, I'm going to add a numbers approach, a two
numbers approach coming from below.
So [Bbm] if I know who goes to my [Ab] five, what is two numbers below that?
I'm not going to tell you because by now you would have figured it out.
All right, we know that we should be coming from [Gb] [F] not here, but here, which is two numbers
below, which is our three.
So if we had, [Bbm] I'm going to go and I'm going to take my step [Ab] right to my five, then back
to my six, two [Gb] numbers below.
[Ab] [Bbm] And then I want to go to [Eb] my [Fm] three.
However, when I'm playing with the beat, I'm [Bbm] adding, [Gb] [Ab]
[Gb] [Ab] [Bbm]
[Fm]
[G] all right, something like that.
And then we've got to do it in every key.
All right, so if you didn't get what I just did, rewind it and then get it and then join me.
Okay, because I'm going to jump in right here with you.
I know this is not the application section, but I'm going to jump in with you and we're
going to do that in every single key.
All right, [Bbm] same progressions, alternating chords, but [Gb] different [Ab]
left hand pattern.
Okay, so I hope you [Bbm] can follow me.
All right, can you follow?
[Fm] All right, so here we go.
Let's get started.
Here we go.
[Bbm]
[Ab] [Bbm]

[D] [Em]
[Bm]
[G] [Am]

[F] [Am] [Em]

[F] [Eb] [F] [Gm]
[D] [Dm]
[Cm]
[Bb]
[Cm] [Gm]
[Cm]
[Fm] [Eb]
[Fm]
[Cm]
Great job.
Now that's the last of the bass progressions for now, but if you need to come back to it,
definitely come back to it and practice it.
And it's good practice even if you know it well.
