How has your relationship with music changed since you first started playing music in high school?
What was your motivation to create music [Db] then, and what is it now?
I read it on the paper, I knew I should have prepared.
When I started making music in high school, I was mostly [Bb] just guitar, and I would play,
I was into some weird stuff.
Not like weird stuff, but [B] just kind of undeveloped,
and I wanted to play the fastest licks, and that's [C] all I really cared about.
And then eventually I got into songwriting, and [N] found that I really liked simple things,
simplicity, especially in blues music.
So I started playing neoclassical, dreaded finger tapping solos,
and then got into blues music, and I just felt that [Em] more in my soul.
I think I went [D] into myself, and that's where I found it, instead of trying to be something I'm not.
Because I'm really not a great, fast guitar player.
[N] I was made to play the blues because I can't play fast, I guess.
[B] I think the motivation's always [Bb] been the same, though.
You have these ideas that you want to try to convey to people [Gb] through music,
[N] but instead of doing it at the coffee shops or the bar that we used to play at,
now you [C] can do it to a bigger amount of people.
But the motivation's still the same.
Across and out to a big audience.
[Ebm]
[G] [N] That's right.
Way to the game.
Shane played music [F] in high school.
Yeah, I played, I used to play like double bass pedal, screaming.
Why didn't [Gb] we play together in high school?
I was way too hardcore for you, obviously.
[E]
I don't know, I guess I was just letting out some anger.
[Eb]
I hate you, Dad.
Can I anger you?
[N] Yeah, for no reason.
You didn't let me go to the football game.
My dad was a nice guy.
He is a nice guy.
He is a nice guy.
Still is.
But I don't know, I kind of [F] calmed down, and I think that became more so the whole thing.
After that I realized that this was almost no [Db] possible chance.
Just kind of [Ebm] calmed down a little bit.
I think we grew [G] up.
[Ab] [Bb]
I think we did.
But you're constantly, like, you're never to a stopping point.
You know, it's constantly going to change and grow.
I lost all [Gb] hope in them, so.
That old Phil from our club.
You still [N] don't know that they are?
Because they're in like bulky [Bb] songs.
Going back to your roots.
Love roots.
[Gb] Maybe that makes you a Brutes music.
Yeah.
[G]
Maybe not.
