[Cm] Aloha and welcome to another episode of [C] High Sessions.
John [G] Yamasato here from the beautiful Koʻolau Ballrooms in Kaneohe.
[Gm] Today's artists are Sudden Rush.
[C] Sudden Rush, they've been around as long as I have, which is a while, and they are [Eb] awesome.
So, please [G] sit back, enjoy.
Don't [C] forget to check us out on iTunes now as well.
High Sessions CD is out.
And we're going to have more of those tracks coming out as time [Eb] progresses.
So, [Gm] keep checking back.
But thanks for watching the show and have a good day.
[Cm]
[Gm]
[Cm]
Why?
[Gm] So, you guys have had quite a day.
[G] What was your day like today?
We had three [Cm] hours sleep all the way across the board.
And we got a chance to hang out with the K-Train 2 News guys [Gm] and had fun with them.
Yeah, and then you [E] have a gig tonight too?
[Bb] We have a gig tonight over at the Crown.
So, is [Cm] everyone going to get a nap?
We're [B] going to get a nap all the way.
[A] Except for me, you know.
I'm going to drive.
Oh, [Gm] nice.
Okay, cool man.
Thanks for coming in.
[Cm]
[Gm]
[Cm] Nick Kawakami.
John Yamasato.
So, you're at a rush [D] today.
Where do you have to go?
We've got a gig.
Every Friday night, you know, DNA plays at [B] Lulu's Waikiki.
Hey, I've been there.
[C] Hey.
It's a good show.
[Eb] I recommend people go down and check you guys [G] out.
Hey, thanks, thanks, thanks.
[D] So, Fridays, 6.30, Lulu's.
Yeah.
[C] No, 6 o'clock.
I don't even know where I am.
6 o'clock.
6 o'clock.
To 9 o'clock.
Across from the zoo, Lulu's, Waikiki.
[Gm] Call it, call it.
Be there.
Or be square.
I think I'm going to be [Cm] square.
[Gm]
[Cm] Okay.
Okay.
[Gm]
[Cm] We're here with Sudden Rush for our three minute interview [Gm] starting now.
First of all, thank you guys for coming in and doing this.
I was very excited when Koi called [C] me and said that you guys were going to be on [Cm] Island.
But what have you been up to lately?
[D] Basically, we've been, [A] I mean, for a while.
It's been a while since our last full [Gm] length CD came out.
But we've been performing pretty much here [Cm] and there consistently, [C] working on new stuff.
We got singles that came out, and we got a bunch of songs that we haven't released [Gm] yet.
So looking at what we're going to do with those songs.
Yeah, so [C] what I'm alluding to is you guys [Cm] are working on a project, right?
Yeah, we're planning on releasing, [Gm] it's a CD-DVD combo EP, CD.
[Ab] Some of the singles that we've released over the last couple of years, as well as some new material.
And then the [B] DVD will be a music [Gm] video for Hawaii 3000, as well as some other intimate
[Cm] reviews or a more intimate look at what it is that we do.
Some behind the scenes stuff.
[Gm] Yeah.
I saw you guys are Koi-ing a lot.
Yeah, I'm walking around with this GoPro.
But [Cm] let's see, the other thing that I was going to ask you was, you guys now play with
a live band.
How's that been a little [Gm] bit different than what you're used to?
It's actually [Cm] really, really better.
You know, with the hip hop show and the DJ [Gm] and us three, at first when the idea came
to me, I was like, [G] how is it [Gb] going to be?
But after that first [N] rehearsal, it was like, there's so much we can do better, so much
we can do more.
I think going live is something that we wanted to do for a long, long time.
[Gb] I think that the show as it is now is still not done.
I think that we [Ab] definitely [D] plan on bringing more of [Gbm] the hip hop elements to [D] the live show.
So, I mean, [Gb] once one foot in front of the other, keep moving forward and keep making
progress, I think that this at least feels like it's been the next level, you know?
Yeah.
Doing it live.
I remember seeing that back when they had that MTV Unplugged, they had LL Cool J.
I
remember them saying that he didn't want a band, you know, but after he played with the
band, he was like, oh, this is pretty awesome.
There's more [G] energy with the band.
[Db] There might be some [B] sounds and little things here and missing and [E] all that, but then the
energy makes up [N] for it.
Like Shane was saying, if we can get those elements together and come out with that,
I think that'll be the ultimate.
Yeah.
Will you guys always bring it, I mean, like Clarence said, 20 years now and still going strong?
Started when we were 12.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
Honestly, I'll be honest, I was 13.
Yeah, [D] yeah.
No, [Eb] no, no.
Yeah, but [C] 20 years and it's like, I mean, there's just still, as long as there's things
[Ab] to be said and we're [Bb] around to say it, we're going to say it and put it to music.
Cool, man.
Well, thanks guys for coming in and we'll see you next time.
Thank you for having us.
Yep.
