He loves me in Eb minor (Jill Scott tutorial by JT) chords
Start Jamming...
I just thank him every time I wake up.
It's your boy JT.
Going back to the key of [C#] E flat minor.
Jill Scott did a [F] song called He Loves Me in the key of E flat minor.
And I'm going to give you this real simple song.
I just want to show you how you can hear it different ways.
And the bass line is going from an E flat to your [G#] A flat [F] down to your F.
Turning around [A#] on B flat.
Back to the E [D#] flat.
I think Karen [F] Clark also used this or somebody else used this to do a song with in gospel.
But that's the way the bass line goes.
So, [N] I'm in the key of E flat minor.
You can always take your F sharp [C#] major center or G flat major center.
[F#] [A] G flat, [C#] B flat, D flat, [F#] F.
[C#] So, your first chord.
Then we can go [G#m] to A minor.
And what I'm doing right there, I got an A flat and E flat in my left.
And then [F#] right hand, that's a G flat, [B] B flat, B, [G#m] E flat.
And then when I'm going down [Fm] to F, I'm taking that [G#] cluster there and going E.
[A#m] You can always use [Fm] a cluster in this.
That's a G, A flat, B [G#] flat, E flat.
And I'm not saying these are the exact chords, but they can work.
And [A#] then when you turn around, you can use a diminish.
In my left hand, that's a B flat and an F.
Right hand, we got an A flat, B, D, F.
So, when I put that [N] together, this [A#m] is what I come up with.
[G#m] [Fm]
[A#] [F]
[F#] [G#m]
[Fm] Or you can always use that A flat major set.
[F#]
And if you want to, instead of going to the diminish, you can [B] do something like this with your left [A] hand.
Get a B [C#] flat and a D flat.
[G#] And then your right hand, [F#] D, G flat, A flat.
And you can get that other D flat if you want to.
[A] And another good thing to go on this is chord it with [F#] your left [G#m]
[G#] [A#m]
[F#] or your diminish.
[A#]
So, that's the whole song.
So, let's [F#] do that with the track that [C#] we was playing.
[G#m] [B]
[Fm]
[D] [F#]
[D#m] [G#m] [F#] [Fm]
So, I asked you all to do [F#] it.
[B]
[Fm] [C#]
[D] [F#]
So, that's how they go.
[C#] And if you want to, you can actually [Fm] use your clusters on here, even when you're on [A#m] the E flat.
[F#] If [C#] you want to do something different.
And that cluster right there [D#m] is an F, G flat, [C#] A flat, D [F#] flat.
And then when you go to [D#m] A flat, [G#]
that's a B flat, B, G [D#m] flat.
[G#m]
Then we already [G#] got this one.
[Fm]
Like I say, [A#] diminish.
So, let's do it with the clusters.
[C#] [D#m]
[A#]
[C#]
[D#m] [A#] [G#]
[C#]
So, and then to do another trick that I like to do, especially when I got a bass player.
Take the G flat major 7 in my right, left hand, I'm sorry.
And hit my clusters down [F#] there.
Or take your thumb off the F and take your cluster from [C#] right there with your right hand.
You know.
And then do your A minor chord [G#m] still.
But [C#m] hit your [G#m] cluster with it.
That give it a different flavor.
[Gm] [Fm]
You know.
[F#] So, let's do that with the beat.
We're going to do it the regular way.
[Fm] I'm sorry, I did it the [C#] wrong [F#] way.
Okay, regular way.
[B] [Fm]
[F#] [D]
[F#] See how this sounds?
[B]
[C] [A#m]
[F#] Okay, now, I'm going to do it [Em] with the chord in my left hand and the cluster in my right hand.
[F] So, we're going to put it all together now [G] and it's going to sound like this.
[F#] Here we go.
[G#m] [Fm]
[F#]
[C#] [G#m]
Cluster.
[Fm]
[A#] Do that [F#] again.
[B]
[C] [C#] [A#]
[F#] [E] Excuse that little mess up.
My finger got a little jammed up.
And another thing [C#] you can do, when you go to that F, [F#]
[G#] you can always do this.
So, [G] if you don't want to hit the A [C] flat major 7 or even the [Fm] cluster, you can always, when you got a bass player,
take your left hand and get your F, A flat, and your C.
[A#] And then you get your right hand, E flat, [Fm] G, A flat, and a C.
So, let's [C#] do that now.
[F#]
[C#] [Fm] Right there.
[D] [C#] Let's do that again.
[C#m]
[F#] [Fm] [C#] [F#]
You [C#] can just play around with that.
[F#] Sorry about that.
[G#]
[E] So, you can [F#] always do that too.
[C#]
[G#m] Left hand, [E] 7.
[G#]
[C#] [F#]
[C#] [G#] [E]
Sorry [F#] about that wrong movement.
That's supposed to have been [G#m] a minor, not [G#] major.
And I hit major [F#] last time.
[G#m] [Fm] So, that's two or [N] three different ways how to play that.
Hope that can be helpful.
