Thank you so much Hayden.
No worries.
Now at [N] the
moment we're right in the middle of your Toff residency in the Toff in town.
Every Monday
night you can catch Hayden there.
So how has it been being the headliner?
It's been awesome.
It's [G] nice for a change after doing all that with supports and stuff.
I think 2012 has been Hayden,
[D] Kallen, oh my gosh I can't even say it.
I said before that I would get it wrong.
[C#] Kallen, thank
you.
It's been [N] that you've been supporting everyone.
Every time I see your line up your
name pops up.
So how does it show headlining, how does it change when you're the support
act?
Well you know I get to play for longer [G] and I get to really [F#] take time in [F] ordering
my set properly and having a band and stuff is always great.
So that's the main difference
I guess.
So having a band, do you enjoy that more?
Or do you like just having [F#] your own
time?
I like them both for different reasons.
I love playing solo because that's kind of
how I write and how I record as well by myself.
But having a band on stage is great.
Sometimes
you get really lonely.
[G] So to have people up there with you is [D#] really, really good.
[N] Although
you do have to share the writer.
Yeah but you know we just ask for more.
Good method.
Now I understand that you did study film and then that's kind of inspired your music career
from there although you've always been a musician [B] since you were a [G] teenager.
So [D#] when you are
writing songs do you kind of visualize [B] what's happening as well because of that film background?
Yeah, [D#] just studying film because [G] sound design [F] was my major [E] so I kind of learned how to [G#] record,
how to do all that kind of stuff at uni.
[G#] So it's totally influenced my [F#] music completely.
Just coming from a sound design point of view and that's why people kind of tend to say
that it's [F] quite soundscape-y, [C#] my music.
It's because I've got that.
So what do you kind of see [N] happening with your music and film career?
Do you see that
you could kind of go down that route of [B] soundtrack work?
Yeah, I always thought about it but now I haven't.
Since uni I haven't [E] really done anything
that was kind of uni-related since.
It's only been like six or something months.
You need a bit of [D] a break.
But yeah, I'm on my break and I'm just doing music for the moment.
But yeah, I definitely
want to get back into film and [F#] maybe do something along those lines.
Awesome.
Now you do have just got a new release out so tell us a bit about that.
Yeah, my [F#] EP, my debut EP City comes out on the 20th of July.
Awesome.
So that's really exciting.
It's taken way too long to get it finished but it's finally finished.
So yeah, it comes out on iTunes and stuff [G#] at the end of this month and then the hard [G] copies
will come out a [F#] few days later.
So yeah, [C#] very excited.
Cool.
Well make sure you do check it out and if you [N] can get along to a live show
because it's absolutely beautiful.
You've been watching Balcony TV Melbourne.
