Ladies and gentlemen, Hanson!
Welcome to the show!
Thanks for coming.
So this is not your everyday performance.
This is in some ways a homecoming celebration of ten years of playing music.
About ten years ago, which is frightening, in 1995 we were recording an indie record
and we were here in Tulsa in a one-car garage studio and one of the songs was a song called Um Bop.
That was the title of that record.
And about a year later, we were turned down by pretty much every record company in the business several times.
And eventually somebody signed us and we started to make a record called Middle of Nowhere.
And one of the songs on there was a song [F#] called Um Bop also,
[N] which went on to completely change our lives in many ways.
And obviously that record introduced us to you through a completely unexpected success through that record.
And it's amazing, after ten years of playing the music from Middle of Nowhere and playing Um Bop specifically,
still no one has any idea what it means.
Except for the few of you that are here that realize that song was really all about holding on to the things that matter
and ultimately the people that will be there in the end.
And that's you guys.
So thank you.
And this is a song for all you guys.
