All passengers for flight 103 to Nashville, [G#] Tennessee, please proceed to gate 17 [C#] for boarding.
[F#]
[B] [G#] Well, I played Chicago the other night and [C#] was headed back home on a morning flight to [F#] have my luggage all checked to Nashville, [B] Towson.
[G#] So I got on board to find a couple seat [C#] and the stewardess smiled at me real sweet, [F#] said, welcome aboard, sir, on flight number [B] 103.
So [D#] I found myself a nice easy chair, [G#] then the captain's voice came over the air, [C#] he said, welcome aboard [F#] folks, this is [B] Captain Lee.
[G#] Said, the weather's kinda nasty down here, [C#] but where we're going it should be clear, [F#] and the time in Nashville right now is half [B] past three.
[G#] Now I've flown hundreds of times before, [C#] but friend, when I heard them engines roar, [F#] I buckled down, that old seat felt [B] good and tight.
[G#] Then down the runway, nash bound, [C#] that big old bird lifted off of the ground, [F#] so I leaned on back and prepared to enjoy [B] the flight.
[D#] Then the stewardess brought some scrambled [G#] eggs, and the guy beside me, he checked the [C#] legs, and the other guy [F#] beside him made a [B] funny crack.
[G#] Just about that time I heard a yell, [C#] and I saw a friend that I knew right well, [F#] and he waved at me and hollered out, [B] hi Jack.
[G#] Well I really don't know who's to blame, [C#] cause Jack has always been my name, [F#] but I want to tell you right now, and this [B] is true.
[G#] Had I known the problems that were coming to me, [C#] just for being on flight number 103, [F#] I'd have wished my Ma and Pa had called [B] me soon.
[D#] The stewardess screamed and then threw the [G#] eggs all over the guy that had checked her [C#] legs, and spilled hot [F#] coffee all down over some [B] woman's dress.
[G#] Then a voice came over that intercom, [C#] some nuts aboard, and he's got a [F#] bomb, and 13 people had cardiac [B] arrest.
[G#] The air police jumped on me real [C#] fast, and the pilot, he started dumping the [F#] gas, and my buddy that hollered at me, well he [B] just froze.
[G#] The marshal, he grabbed me around the neck, [C#] then he threw me down like he broke my [F#] neck, and stuck a great big old .38
right on [B] my nose.
[D#] Well I tried to tell him that Jack's my [G#] name, but I had no intention of bombing the [C#] plane, and just about [F#] that time everything [B] went black.
[G#] Well he brought that gun down upon my [C#] head, and it hurt so bad that I thought I was [F#] dead, and all because my buddy had [B] said, hi Jack.
[G#] Then when I awoke down there on the [C#] ground, with my hands all cuffed and my feet all [F#] bound, I felt right a luck just to know I was [B] really alive.
[G#] Now the stars can all fall out of the [C#] sky, and all hell can freeze before I'll [F#] fly, and especially if it's on flight [B] 103.
[D#] So my friend, if you have to sing some [G#] night, and I have to get up and catch a morning [C#] flight, be sure you [F#] remember exactly [B] what I've said.
[G#] And if you see a friend, you better use some [C#] tact, and especially if his name is [F#] Jack, and if you have to speak at all, you better [B] call him Fred.
[G#] [C#] [F#]
