[Gbm] [D]
[A] [Gb] [A]
Well, [Gm] I guess it's kind of like you don't
[A] It's you know, you're telling a story and it doesn't you don't know if it's a funny story and so somebody laughs at it Yeah, right
[Eb] I thought I was dead serious
Yeah, I am
When it comes
When [Bb] you do that the thing with with Lyle Lovett and John High and Joe Elliott
It seems like you're just pulling songs out [G] of the air.
Oh, yeah, you're just pulling them out of there
Yeah, you know I [G] start where I feel like playing that night [D] and it just goes [E] I mean one night for some reason
I'm saying this song about a dog and everybody has
I was listening to the John Hines song
My dog and me
Which always I can't listen to that song.
I had a
[Eb] Kick down hit by a car and that's all your mind.
They're hurt.
So I know that song always chokes me up [G] today
But [C] so I mean that how did that tour come about?
Did you just do a show together and it worked and so you're doing are you gonna keep doing that?
I you know, I don't know it started [Em] 10 or 15 years ago
Then we were doing a thing for [C] the Country Music Hall of [Gm] Fame
[F] slash Marlboro country [Em] music
Whatever. Anyway
We got together for that
to do this songwriter thing and
And played 10 or 15
dates around [Bb] and then it kind of sat for a while and I
Think it was Lyle had a charity thing
That he wanted to do and call everybody and said hey man, let's put this [E] back together for this and [G] then hi
I have one so we did it for that and
somebody at some point heard it and said man I can book that and
Probably out of Lyle's camp
So
Anyway, we just started doing it and did it for two or three years
Like once a year.
I don't know
[Eb] What will happen next, you know, I mean it's hard work
[E] too [G] old for that shit
[Ab] Well, they like playing every night.
[E] I play every other night
Chicago theater is a beautiful place to play
Now here's here's something that struck I was at another show of Chicago theater and here this is just kind of out of the air
People hollering songs out of the audience and a friend of mine.
I was with at this show said
Does anybody ever pay attention to somebody hollering a song out of the audience?
Sure.
Do you hear somebody yell a song?
You okay.
I'll play that.
Oh, I do all the time
Yeah, I just want to sometimes [G] I even encourage it just turns into
[Bb] Shout fest, you know,
[B] it just kind of creates a little chaos
