Greetings [F] Earthlings from GitCon!
I'm here with the lovely Jennifer James.
You may have seen her out on the YouTubes and let's hear from her.
How long [D] have you been doing your thing on the YouTube?
Well, I think I have the youngest channel that is here because [N] I just started in November 2016.
Because I just started playing guitar in November 2016.
No [Ab] way!
Yeah, I've been [G] practicing for a couple of months now.
[E] So it's been kind of documented from the beginning.
Yes, [B] totally.
[Gb] That's cool.
The really first steps about just hitting one [D] note on the guitar, I [Ebm] got that recorded.
That's genius!
That's genius!
[Db] I don't think anyone's ever done that.
So you have to
how often are you doing updates?
Every week I'll upload a video.
It's not [F] that every video is a [Cm] progress video.
Right, right.
It's just [G] sometimes it's talking about differences between class and acoustic guitar and stuff like that. Got it.
But still, it's been there from
it's like the [A] camera in the womb, you know, from embryo to senior citizen.
That's really cool.
I dig that.
[D] I started my channel in German, so the first videos are in German language.
But I switched to English a month ago.
[G] I think they have the option to translate [E] the videos and it's really hilarious.
If people in America watched your first German videos and hit the YouTube translate button,
somebody else's [G] voice or a computer's voice will say kind of what you're saying.
[F] Oh, that's fun!
But some of it will be completely wrong.
I [E] didn't know that.
Or you should do it sometime for fun.
It's a great party [G] trick.
I hope it's a really dark voice being overlaid.
Wouldn't that be [Dm] great?
Well, [F] it's like watching TV over here, which I haven't done.
I [D] tried the first day I got here and I just went, every channel is in German.
Every channel, really?
Sometimes it's [G] awful when you see a [E] movie in English and then the German [A] ones.
Yeah, but hey, [E] we're all one happy family, one planet here.
So, let's get to serious questions.
Jewelry, silver or gold?
[Gbm] [Abm] I like jewelry.
[Gb] I don't care.
I like [E] gold.
You like gold?
[E] Like this.
[G] Yeah, cool.
It comes good with red.
I asked them to [C] make that microphone to look like Hulk Hogan.
Do you know the [Gb] wrestler Hulk Hogan?
[E] American wrestling?
[C] I know wrestling.
I don't know that [Gb] guy.
Oh, is it the one with the white beard?
He [D] does now, but in the 80s he was like a big blonde-haired [Gb] freak.
Oh, right.
We were little kids.
We all had Hulkamania t-shirts.
Anyway, that makes me think of the Hulkster.
It's a good one.
[Dm]
Let's see.
Tequila [E] or bourbon?
[Gb]
I'm not [Gb] into whiskey.
Bourbon is a whiskey drink.
[F] I'm not into that at all.
[Ab] The [N] main thing I totally love is gin tonic.
I could drink gin tonic.
I like gin occasionally as a martini only because to me it tastes like pine needles, like a Christmas tree.
Juniper bush or gin tastes like a Christmas tree.
I grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Minnesota. No way.
True story.
If I'm lying, I'm dying.
True story.
So yeah, Christmas tree farmer turned rocker.
[Em] But you need the olive [E] in there.
Not if it's gin.
Only with vodka.
I can't do olive with gin.
[G] It's too bitter that doesn't work.
We do a [E] cucumber in [D] it in the gin.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
[Db] Interesting.
[F] I'll ask for that at the [Em] airport.
[Bm] Have you been going to the jams at night here or any of [B] that afterwards?
[E] I do.
It's awesome.
I [Abm] feel like I have to practice.
[G] Well, you do.
I have to practice.
I've been doing [A] this for 30 [D] years and [Bbm] I'm terrible.
But it doesn't bother me.
It's more important to have fun than it is to practice.
It's just like half of [Gb] the things people are talking about here, I don't get it.
Because [C] I'm still a beginner [Ab] and I don't know about licks.
I don't know about taps and all this [Abm] stuff.
And I always feel [Gbm] like, what is she [Gb] talking about?
But that's cool.
Yeah, yeah.
Sure.
Your perspective from here could be one of the most important actually.
That's really great.
I like that.
So people that are watching your channel are getting a [E] more down to earth basic,
a more [Abm] [Ab] down to earth view of what's going on at GitCon
as opposed to some of the guys that are walking around saying all of the strategic,
technical stuff that nobody really likes to hear about anyway.
We just can't help it because we're nerds and that's how we talk.
Yeah, but being a nerd is good.
Because it says that you're really into something.
True.
So I think it's really good to be a nerd.
[C]
So, pie or cake?
Doesn't matter.
I'll take it.
Really?
Donuts or cake?
Both.
Wow.
We can [G] continue that.
Chocolate or vanilla?
[Db] Well, okay.
There I have to go with chocolate.
Okay.
Good.
Very good.
What is your favorite, quote unquote, [Em] American fast food chain that is [Ebm] in Germany?
Whether it's Burger King or McDonald's or any of those.
Which one do you actually [B] like [Db] the most?
Well, that's a hard [Ab] one.
I like, like I'm just eating [Eb] fast food when I'm on the road.
[Db] Right.
And then [Ab] I'm always looking for Subway.
Yeah.
Because it's like
That's the answer then, [Em] Subway.
It's Subway and the chili cheese [Ab] nuggets from Burger King.
I like that one too.
I don't even know what those are but they [B] sound good.
We don't have [Bb] those.
[Abm] No, you don't.
It's like [Ab] the best thing that Burger King [Gb] has.
Oh my God.
Yeah, it's like deep [E] fried inside there.
It's melted [G] cheese and this little [Gb] spicy stuff in there.
It's [A] really good.
See, you guys are an older country.
You know what's good.
We're just [Ab] a young country and we're still learning from our mistakes.
Even Burger King.
Even the Burger King is better over here.
My God.
Have you been to the States before?
Actually, I did for a whole year.
No kidding?
Yeah.
You went to school or just travel or
I was an au pair.
I watched for four kids in North Carolina.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, I know that I will never ever get four kids.
Did you go through a hurricane by any chance?
No, I'm glad that I didn't.
We get those there, Carolinas.
Did you get to go up into the mountains at all?
I did.
It's beautiful.
We did a family trip there.
The family I was at, they were awesome.
They were [D] really nice.
They're not watching this.
You can tell the truth.
No, if you're watching this, Micah, Becca, Eli, [B] hi.
It's been such a long time.
I mean, I was there in [Abm] 2009.
Oh, wow.
So, they're [N] grown up.
Becca was four when I was there.
She's like a lady now.
She might be playing guitar now.
I hope she is.
You should find out.
Yeah.
Well, thank you so much for making the time,
and I hope you have a great time here at GitCon.
Yeah, thanks for having me.
And I'll see you upstairs later.
We do.
[G] Rock.

He [D] does now, but in the 80s he was like a big blonde-haired [Gb] freak.
Oh, right.
We were little kids.
We all had Hulkamania t-shirts.
Anyway, that makes me think of the Hulkster.
It's a good one.
_ [Dm]
Let's see.
Tequila [E] or bourbon?
[Gb] _ _
_ _ I'm not [Gb] into whiskey.
Bourbon is a whiskey drink.
[F] I'm not into that at all.
[Ab] The _ [N] main thing I totally love is gin tonic.
I could drink gin tonic.
I like gin _ occasionally as a martini only because to me it tastes like pine needles, like a Christmas tree.
Juniper bush or gin tastes like a Christmas tree.
I grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Minnesota. No way.
True story.
If I'm lying, I'm dying.
True story.
So yeah, Christmas tree farmer turned rocker. _
[Em] But you need the olive [E] in there.
_ Not if it's gin.
Only with vodka.
I can't do olive with gin.
[G] It's too bitter that doesn't work.
We do a [E] cucumber in [D] it in the gin.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
[Db] Interesting.
_ [F] I'll ask for that at the [Em] airport.
_ [Bm] Have you been going to the jams at night here or any of [B] that afterwards?
[E] I do.
It's awesome.
I _ [Abm] feel like I have to practice.
[G] Well, you do.
I have to practice.
I've been doing [A] this for 30 [D] years and _ [Bbm] I'm terrible.
But it doesn't bother me.
_ It's more important to have fun than it is to practice.
So people that are watching your channel are getting a [E] more down to earth basic,
a more _ [Abm] [Ab] down to earth view of what's going on at GitCon
as opposed to some of the guys that are walking around saying all of the strategic, _
technical stuff that nobody really likes to hear about anyway.
We just can't help it because we're nerds and that's how we talk.
Yeah, but being a nerd is good.
Because it says that you're really into something.
True.
So I think it's really good to be a nerd.
_ [C] _ _
So, pie or cake? _
Doesn't matter.
I'll take it.
Really?
_ Donuts or cake?
Both.
Wow.
We can [G] continue that.
Chocolate or vanilla?
[Db] _ Well, okay.
There I have to go with chocolate.
Okay.
Good.
Very good.
What is your favorite, _ _ _ quote unquote, [Em] American fast food chain that is [Ebm] in Germany?
Whether it's Burger King or McDonald's or any of those.
Which one do you actually [B] like [Db] the most?
_ Well, that's a hard [Ab] one.
I like, like I'm just eating [Eb] fast food when I'm on the road.
[Db] Right.
And then [Ab] I'm always looking for Subway.
Yeah.
Because it's like_
That's the answer then, [Em] Subway.
No kidding?
Yeah.
You went to school or just travel or_
I was an au pair.
_ It's been such a long time.
I mean, I was there in _ [Abm] _ 2009.
We do.
[G] Rock.
Thanks. _ _
