Hey everybody, Mark Agnese here back again in the back room in Norman's Rare
Guitars.
It's Friday, it's almost the weekend, [Ab] it's time for Guitar of the Day.
Got a lot of response on yesterday's Pell and Blue SG Standard.
It's gone.
It's
already gone.
Less than 24 hours and it's gone.
It's left the building, it's bought
and paid for, the ink hasn't dried on the check yet, but [Bb] it's already gone.
Sorry,
you got to act quick when stuff's that cool.
But hey, there's always something
else in Norm's here.
Today, going through the comments section on the old ones,
people kept saying, do an Epiphone Casino.
You know, I can only do what I
have in stock, alright?
I can't make stuff materialize.
Norm just got back from the
show, got a really cool [A] casino.
Let's do [G] it.
This one's from 1966.
This is an E-230TE
and it's gorgeous.
Look at that thing.
Got that kind of light, iced tea sunburst.
[Db] It's got the Beatle-era kind of long, [A] elongated Epiphone headstock that you
start seeing around late 63.
They kind of had the shorter, squattier headstock up
to that point.
This has got that long Beatle-era headstock.
Got the tilted
parallelogram inlays, two chrome-covered Dog Ear P90s, [Bb] and you got the Epiphone
whammy bar.
Guitar is stunning, man.
Really, [A] really clean guitar.
Shiny and clean.
[Ab] You'll see the Beatles playing these a lot.
Probably most famous for these
guitars.
However, the guy who played them first, [A] most famously, also, Keith Richards
and the Rolling Stones cut a lot of the early Stones tunes on an Epiphone
Casino.
One of those short, squatty headstock ones.
But why don't we say we go
plug this thing in, see what kind of sounds we can get out of it.
Alright, we're
out front here.
We have the [Eb] 1966 [F] Epiphone E [B]-230TD Casino.
We got it going through
just a stock 410 Hot Rod DeVille, as usual.
All EQs at noon.
Just a little bit
of reverb.
We're going to start back on the bridge Dog Ear P90 here [Gm] and see what
kind of sounds [Bm] we can get out of it.
