[G]
Hey everyone, Grant from Loudwire here with Greta Van Fleet and [Gb] Rockin' the Roof.
Hey!
Thank you so much for dropping by.
Here we are.
So very [Ab] appreciative.
First of all, you absolutely [G] destroyed on stage today.
Thank you.
I got to watch from side stage [G] and my jaw dropped.
First of all, just how [Eb] good the sound was and just how powerful the [Ab] performance was.
Well, well done.
Thank you.
It's incredible because you don't really need [G] monitors when you're playing the music that we play.
It's [C] pretty loud.
Yeah, it's just, [Bb] everything's loud.
It's great.
Yeah, it was [A] super loud.
Great.
[F]
First question, have you seen the elders react to Greta Van Fleet?
[G] I heard about that.
Oh, I heard about it.
[A] It's excellent.
I would watch that on YouTube.
[Ab] I'm going to check it out when we get back.
A lot of the elders [G] thought you were very, very talented.
Amazing.
That's pretty good.
That is incredible.
So the Rock fans dig you at [Ab] all ages.
You [G] guys have had so much early success, even [Eb] without releasing a [F] debut album, really.
[G] Has this whole thing been a crazy whirlwind for you guys?
[Abm] Yes.
The short answer is yes.
See, I didn't, you know, initially [F] it was like, we've been doing this growing up quite
a bit, so it's like, we formed this about six years ago to today, to the [N] date.
So it's like that evolution and that amount of time put into it prior [Ab] to [Ebm] stepping in [F] was
kind of crucial to writing the right songs and kind of [F] developing as musicians.
For [G] sure.
But yeah, [Gm]
I don't think that [Ab] any of us had [Eb] expected to sort of [F] garner this much immediate attention.
It's really cool.
For sure, and the fans as well.
Yeah.
Was there a moment where you kind of stepped back and realized, like, whoa, I think this
is actually going to work?
I think it was initial, kind of early on, where you kind of know where we got together
and we finally had gotten Danny and the bands and we all started playing and we kind of
looked at each other and said, I think there's something here and I think there's something [Eb] going on.
[G] Awesome.
So, I mean, everyone wants to know when the debut album is going to come out.
Is there any [Bbm] [G] update you can give [Eb] us?
Writing, recording, anything like that?
It's in the oven.
[Em] It's in the oven.
Okay, it's baking.
It's baking.
All right.
[G] Baking as in you [F] guys are writing songs?
Yeah, we just have to put a final broil on it.
Yeah, we just have to [Db] get a little top coat on it, maybe pan fry it a little bit.
A little bit of thyme, [A] parmesan.
Ooh, ooh, ooh.
No, but actually, [Ab] it's actually quite [Eb] far along.
Yeah, we're actually
[C] We'll tell you, because we [A] love Loudwire, we are [N] in the mixing [E] process.
Wow.
So, [F] it's going to be quite soon.
Yeah, we're wrapping it up.
So, we're hoping to release that late summer probably is when it's looking reasonable to do so.
Wow, so this year, you think?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah, definitely.
[Bb] Wow, that's awesome.
Because we thought, oh, we're going to need all this time to [F] get in there and do all this.
We had this preconceived idea of, okay, we have all these songs that we wrote three to five years ago
that we're just going to put on the album.
[G] And it very, very quickly became all new material.
So, I would say about three quarters of [Gb] the songs are actually songs [Abm] we wrote in the studio.
Yeah, during recording.
So, it happened very quickly.
[G] Sort of how [F] fast, the beginning to the end of the album, so it's actually recorded in due. That's great.
So, yeah, we [A] just got two weeks in the studio, and [Bbm] we kind [F] of decided, okay, we're going to try to get some demos down
and decide which songs, and then it just [G] happened very quickly.
We got [Gb] everything done.
Wow.
It just [B] flowed out.
Like, we were aching to make [Eb] this album.
The album [A] exuded from us.
It exuded.
It flew from our pores.
That's great.
Who's [F] your producer?
Al Sutton.
Al Sutton, Marlon Young, [Gbm] and Herschel Bloom.
Same guys as [G] both of the EPs.
[N] Oh, good.
Perfect then.
Exactly.
Good.
Exactly.
Stick with what brought you there. I know.
They're amazing.
They're [Gb] fantastic producers.
They bring [F] out the best in us.
That's [Ab] killer.
I'm excited [Gbm] for that.
So, [F] [Db] you know, being a young band, [G]
when [F] Robert Plant knows who you are and has [G] good things to say about you,
what does that feel like?
I don't even know if Robert [Gbm] Plant knows what Loudwire is.
If he [Ebm] did, I would shit my pants.
Who's Robert [C] Plant?
He's this musician.
[F] Oh.
You could check him out sometime.
It's very humbling.
It is.
To have a legend to that [Gb] degree who knows who you are and has [G] only good things to say.
It's very humbling.
Because he probably listened to the [Gbm] same exact recordings that [Gm] we did growing [F] up.
You know, listen to Big Bill [Ab] Bronzy and [Eb]
the old [F] blues guys.
I think that's such an important part [Gbm] of music.
I think he grew up on the same [F] stuff we did.
Which may be another reason why he's [Ab] come to appreciate it.
Yeah.
That's [Fm] awesome.
Well, guys, thank you so much.
We appreciate you so much.
[Gb] Cannot wait for that record [F] to drop.
It's coming soon.
We can't either.
Oh, [Ab] God, yes.
We really want to get it out.
We [F] really want to get it out.
We're killer.
Thank [E] you, guys.
Thank you so much for having us, man.
