Jay and Mel here in the volume.com studio and as promised we are joined by Grace Bowers,
Keisha Bailey and Erin Lee Tasgen.
Welcome one and all.
Thank you so much for being here this
morning.
Welcome everyone.
Good morning.
How are we all doing on this Friday?
Lovely.
Yeah?
Doing
all right?
Couldn't be better.
Has it been a long week for you or a short week?
It seems like you
know we had the holiday on Tuesday [G] but it's uh Mel was trying to convince me yesterday that
[Gb] yesterday was Tuesday.
I was like [Bb] no that's not right.
No I wasn't trying to convince you.
I just
thought it was Tuesday.
Well and she kept saying it which was I [N] guess but just part and parcel
convincing me that that was it but no we're here.
I wasn't trying to.
I was just wrong.
You just
were you were just doing it.
I was just confused.
Hey as long as she's done her own research as
far as I'm considered it's Tuesday.
Oh man.
Thank you.
Oh not you too Erin.
But no I'm so glad to
have all of you here in studio.
This is such gonna be such an amazing show coming up on Monday.
Of course we've been talking about it all week actually for over a week now but again it's
Grace and Friends holding this benefit show [Gb] for Covenant School and Music Cares.
So I'm curious
if you'd step to the mic Grace.
You've got some pretty impressive friends.
As I scrolled this
list it was like oh my gosh I'd just like to meet some of these people but [Bb] but they're friends
of yours and gonna be taking the stage.
So can you tell us a little bit about how you put the
lineup together and and what people can expect and and kind of your motivation for for the causes
for the show.
Well I got [B] the idea when you know like after it happened it was like
I the shooting happened like 15 minutes from my house and I have two little brothers who were in
school at the time and had to go on lockdown and I mean that was it was scary for us and
they didn't even go to Covenant.
I mean they were at a different school and it was still [Bb] scary.
So
um just thinking about like what must have gone down at Covenant and for all the families involved
like I wanted to help in some way.
So um there was a protest that I went to and I posted about
it on Instagram and was just met with all these horrible nasty comments like telling me that I
shouldn't be talking about it and that doesn't matter.
So I'm like well it does matter.
So I
asked a few musicians I really like I because I got this idea like what if we put on a show
and um everyone said yes like it was an immediate yes from everyone.
So then it kind of kept growing
from there and [B] it's turned into what it is now.
That's that's that's amazing and [A] then just in
another [Eb] reflection on the amazing [Gb] community that we have here [A] in Music City and for all the people
that said you shouldn't be talking about it we're giving [N] you a microphone to talk about it.
So good
on you Grace.
That's right.
But we're looking very forward to the show again Aaron Leetasian,
Keisha Bailey here in studio now and of course they're going to be part of the show on Monday as
well.
We've got Alex and Brother Love and I think I saw um Sarah's going to be part of the show too
right from them vibes which is going to be amazing.
We've got Audley Freed who uh your
buddies with Audley too right Aaron?
And I know I mean I saw him back in the day a number of times
play with the Black Crows.
Oh yeah.
Is he still playing with Cheryl Crow?
He sure is yeah.
She
has a phenomenal [G] band.
Her band is [Bb] so great.
The great [Gb] Jen Gunderman I believe will [G] be joining us
as well [F] also from Cheryl's band.
Nice that's fantastic and yeah Cheryl's going into the Hall
of Fame this year.
Good for her.
That tip to her right?
[N]
Very well deserved.
It's going to be
amazing again the tickets are on sale you want to get them while they last.
It's only $20.
It is an
18 and over show happening at the Basement East coming up on Monday night.
Show starts at 8 p.m.
and we actually get to give all of you a little sample of what you can expect as part of this
amazing show.
Again all to benefit charity.
It's going to benefit Covenant Heals and Music Cares
coming up on Monday night.
So they warmed up and Mel you can testify to this and Aaron was like
is that okay?
I was like yeah I just didn't want to tell you to stop playing because it sounds so
amazing.
So now everyone out in Radio Land gets to listen.
I also want to remind everyone that we are
streaming if you want to peek in the studio volume.com lightning100.
So you're all going to
play a song for us.
It's one that I'm sure most if not everyone listening is going to recognize but
if you would one of you want to tell us why you chose this song to play this morning?
Well you know I think this is one of those sort of protest anthems that's truly timeless.
You [Gm] know even though it was written [Gb] in a completely different time [A] it's every word of
it [F] still applies to so [Bb] many of the situations that we find ourselves in today.
So [G] you know the power
of a song like that is always [Gb] great in moments like these [Bb] when you need a powerful
conduit to help people get through something.
So we chose this song for what it's worth by the
great Buffalo Springfield for that very reason and we're going to do it for you [E] now.
All right here
it is Grace Bowers, Aaron Lee Tasjan and Keisha Bailey live in the volume.com studio on lightning100.
