[F#m] Hey [G#]
[C#m] [E] guys, welcome back to another lesson.
[N] So we're kind of continuing our series on kind of like quartet ideas, tips and ideas.
So this week I was kind of listening to some Canon Spirituals and the song I'm In Your Care.
And so I figured I'd break it down and see how many ways I can kind of flip it for you guys.
So grab your guitars, we're in the key of E.
All right, so with the progression, we're just kind of hanging on that vamp where they're
just sitting over I'm In Your Care.
So we're walking up from that one, then we're going to come back down to the two.
So we're [F#] going
[E] So that's E, F sharp minor, G sharp minor, then back to the F sharp minor.
[C#m] [C#]
[G] So like I do a lot, I keep those [E] B and E strings open when I'm playing in that key.
[C#m] [G#] And now we're going to go back to the three, but this time we're going to make it a dominant seven chord.
So right below that we have [C#m] the six.
And that's the whole vamp [E] and we're going to keep doing that over.
[F#] [C#] [G#]
[C#m] [E] So I'm using my volume pedal, I have a little delay going, I'm kind of swelling into those chords.
So you'll see me play a different variation there every so often.
So that's kind of like the first round and then I kind of open up a little bit more.
I add that nine to that E.
[C#m] Keep the two the same.
[B] And now I'm going to play a G [G#] sharp minor seven.
[E] Back to [C#m] the two.
[B] I do a couple licks.
[E] Let's walk [A#] up there.
So we have the one, E.
[F#m]
[A] [E] Alright, so let's break that down.
We have an E, then we have the F sharp [F#m] minor.
[E] But now we're going to play another E triad.
Now we're going to [F#m] go to that two.
So that F sharp minor seven.
On that F sharp minor [E] seven, I'm going.
We can do that a couple different ways.
So that walk up.
[F#m] [E] [A]
[A#] Alright, so with there, I'm kind of playing around with that same little phrase [E] here.
[A] [F#m] [A#] So what we're doing, we're just playing around with different variations of those two chords.
So E, [E] F sharp minor, [G#] [A] back [D#] to the [E] E, and then the [F#m] two.
So if I do it there.
[E]
So we can just [D#] start right there with those two chords if we wanted to.
Or we can go [E] down with it.
[D#]
[A] So there I'm playing the F sharp minor seven at the nine.
[G#]
[E] Alright, there we're [Em] going to that change.
So we're doing that dominant [G#]
G seven.
[C#m] [G#] [E]
So that's the first [A#] transition from that three to the six.
We can also do it this [C] way.
[C#] [E] Alright, so I'll kind of play around with a [D] couple of those ideas.
Grab your guitars and kind of play along with it.
Alright, thanks guys.
I hope this makes sense.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments.
I'll get back with you.
And I'll see you next week.
Thanks.
