I was [C] born a restless kind, count my days in court time.
Welcome back everybody.
I am so [Eb] excited to introduce you to our friend,
Casey Kelly with us tonight.
Welcome [Gm] to the circle.
So glad to have you with us.
Thanks for having [Fm] me here.
You know, Casey, you've written some of my favorite songs
on country [Eb] music radio.
You've written some amazing hits for, let's see,
you've written [E] for Kenny Rogers, for T.G. Shepard,
for Joe [F] Diffie, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
One of my favorite songs you wrote was Tanya Tucker's Soon.
Love that, love that.
But I think tonight is gonna triumph over all of those.
I heard a little rumor that you might be doing
a real special song that was featured quite a lot this year
on the George Strait Farewell Tour.
Oh yes.
Yeah.
We cry every time we do it.
Tell us a little bit about that.
Well, he recorded it, I think back in 85,
if I'm not mistaken, 84, 85.
And after it ran the regular route of being played
on the concert tour, it became his encore song.
Not his encore, but his final encore,
because he does about 20 encores.
And I actually went to see him play and almost left
when he hadn't played this song.
He played for two hours and hadn't played my song.
And I said, oh, he'll do it as the encore.
And then he came out and played five songs.
He said, we'll see y'all and left the stage.
It was like 15 songs, something into it.
He [Gb] finally played it.
I was able to put on my jacket and go home
and not be disappointed.
He's been very good to us with that song.
And obviously, I think it sort of identifies
with that sentiment of the song.
And we've been very fortunate with that.
Sonny Throckmorton and I.
Congratulations on all of your successes.
Boy, [G] I'd love to hear it.
Would you play it for us?
Oh yeah, I'd love to.
