_ Jesus says follow me.
_ It's one of the [B] easiest commands in the Bible, one of the shortest ones, only two words.
_ But it's so hard to obey. _
Every time [E] I try,
_ I try to be patient.
I try to think of thoughts, to tell the whole truth, to do the right things that [G#m] Jesus would do.
But somehow I always come up short.
_ [B] I try to keep up with Jesus,
[D#m] following him on his path, [E] _ but I always trip on a rock or run into a tree or fall off a cliff. _
_ Even when I try my hardest [B] and use all my strength, _ I'm useless.
_ _ Why can't I just do it right?
_ Am I just worthless? _
_ [G#m] I know he has a purpose for me, but if I can't even follow him,
how can he show it to me?
And how can I fulfill it?
[A] _ Why can't I just do what God designed me to do?
_ [Em] And if I can't, why am I here?
I'm just an empty body.

[F#] But that's why Jesus tells me to follow him, because when I follow, [B] _ I'm not just walking behind him.
When he's leading, like a shepherd, he tenderly guards his sheep,
_ going before me to make sure there's no danger ahead.
He holds my hand,
so when I fall, he pulls me back up to my feet so I can keep following. _ _
[C#m] If I let go and I try to walk in my power, I'll still fall,

_ Letting him lead, I can follow to fulfill his purpose for me. _
