Hi, I'm Andrew from Fun, and I'm going to teach you guys how to play We Are Young on piano.
It's in the key of F, and it starts out with just some blocked chords.
[Dm] [Gm]
And then [F] as the verse continues it gets a little busier.
The second chord is a D [Dm] minor.
So you go through the [F] chord progression, and then really when it gets interesting is the chorus.
Because it's all about giant, heavy rolls.
And on the album it's rolled up all the way up these two octaves.
[Dm]
But live we don't have the ability to [F] have just a giant wall of whatever we want coming in.
So I always hit it extra hard with the left hand too.
So it starts on F,
goes to D [Dm] minor,
[Bb]
B flat, [C] and then C.
And the C is suspended.
You add an F into the right hand, and then roll it down to the E.
So together it goes like this.
And when you play it, I like to think of my hands as
[Gb] giant sledgehammers.
Because you really [D] get it across to the crowd.
And so I think of this one as a flat hammer, and this one is a rounded hammer because it's rolling.
So I play it like this.
[F]
[Dm]
[Bb]
[C]
And then we [F] play it twice.
[Dm]
[F] [Bb]
[C]
That's how you do it.
It's in the key of F, and it starts out with just some blocked chords.
