Alright, today we get to look at Fortunate Son by Credence Clearwater Revival.
It's written by John Fogerty.
And we're going to take a look at two guitar parts, both on the electric guitar.
The main rhythm electric is going to be kind of chunking through like that.
And then we have the lead electric that's going to be in drop D and handle the riff
that I just played and the one in the bridge, and the little riffs that we hear over the

In this tutorial we're going to be taking a look at the rhythm electric, which is that
driving guitar that's going to take us through the whole song with the rhythm.
And we are going to throw a couple riffs in while the lead guitar is holding out the final
part of that riff.
We do this to start it off, right?
And that's just, we're in standard [E] tuning, so this is an E note, and we go in the sixth
[G] fret with a little bend down to three.
And then we do that again.
One, two, three, four, one, two, three, and.
And then we launch into the verse rhythm.
[F]
[C] [G]
Alright?
And we just need really to learn two forms.
We have the verses and the choruses.
That was a verse.
These are power chords.
Three, five, five of low E, A, and D.
That's a G power chord.
Then we go to a [F] flat seven, which is an F.
And that's one, three, three.
Then we move over to the A string, D string, and G string and play a C chord.
One, two, three, four, [G] one, two.
Now a verse.
One, two, three, go.
[F] We're [C] [G]
[F] [N] going to split this lesson up into two guitars.
We have a rhythm electric lesson that we'll do in another tutorial.
And this lesson is for the lead electric.
If you're listening to this song with stereo headphones, you can hear these two guitars
kind of interacting with each other throughout the song.
One of them is, for most of the time, doing a pretty basic power chord rhythm part.
And this part, the electric lead part, is doing these riffs that we hear.
Not only the main riffs over the intro and the bridge, but also all throughout the verses and choruses.
So this is the lead electric lesson.
Pull up the tabs right beneath the video player at 6stringcountry.com.
Usually just go straight down the tabs, but on this one I know a lot of you are probably
just trying to learn this intro riff and the bridge riff.
So we're going to start with that, then we'll go through the verses and the choruses.
Let's start with this introduction riff.
Two, three, four.
[G] [F]
[C] [G]
Okay, so we're going to start with the third finger here.
If we go with our third finger, then we're going to be in a good position at [A] the end.
So we're going to slide up on the D string from 7 to [B] 9.
Then with our middle finger, [G] 8th fret of B.
Then go down to the 5th fret on the D string to 7.
[A] Then [F] 6 of B.
Then 3 to 5 [Em] on D.
And 5 of B with your pinky.
[G] And then repeat the same thing with your ring finger.
3 to 5.
And 3rd fret of B.
[Dm] I've seen it taught like this on that last position, but that's [G] not right.
It ends on this 5th fret of D and this 3rd fret of B.
So one more time.
