[D] Mick Fleetwood released the following statement on his Facebook [A] page
Today was [Em] greeted by the sad news of the passing of Danny Kerwin in London, England
[G] Danny was a huge force in our early years
His [D] love for the blues led him to being asked to [A] join Fleetwood Mac in 1968 where he made his musical [C] home for many years
Danny's true legacy in [E] my mind will forever live [A] in the music
He wrote and played [C] so beautifully as part of the foundation of Fleetwood [G] Mac that [A] has now endured for over 40 years

[D] Lot of the comments on this YouTube channel have come from old [E] blues Fleetwood Mac fans [G] who are there to say hey
[D] Let's not forget this band goes [A] way further than [E] Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham [G] joining in the mid 70s
Danny Kerwin played on their [E] only British number [F#] one song the instrumental
Albatross as well as hits like man of the world [A] and a real signature song [Em] for Fleetwood Mac in the early days
[D] Oh, well, [A] he also played on rattlesnake shake.
He [E] was born on May 13th
1950 in Brixton South London [Gm] and Kerwin was only a teen when he was [D] spotted by Fleetwood Mac the late Bob Welsh [E] of Fleetwood
Mac who committed suicide in 2012 had a sometimes strained relationship with Kerwin
[G] You'll remember Bob Welsh had the solo hits sentimental lady and ebony eyes [D] said this about Kerwin
He was a talented gifted [A] musician almost equal to Pete Green in his [Em] beautiful guitar playing and faultless string bends
And [G] in another interview Welsh also said Danny wasn't [D] a very light-hearted person to say the [N] least
He probably shouldn't have been drinking as much as he did [C] even at his young age
He was always very intense [D] about his work [F#] as I was
But he didn't seem [G] to ever be [C] able to distance himself from it and laugh about it
[D] Danny was the definition [A] of deadly serious.
He [G] certainly had a lot of [C] problems with alcoholism and at many points in [A] his life
He was homeless Rolling Stone just printed a rare [D] interview from [E] 1993 from the Independent where Kerwin said I get by I suppose
I [B] am [Em] homeless, but then I've never really had a home since our early days on tour
I couldn't handle it all mentally and [D] I had to get out.
I can't settle
[A] He said that after Mick Fleetwood sent a request to [Gm] the missing persons [D] bureau
Looking for his old [A] bandmate when Fleetwood Mac was [Gm] inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in [D]
1998
[A] Danny Kerwin's name of course was there, but he did [D] not attend Kerwin actually died yesterday June 8th
But so far [G] there's no cause of death.
May he rest in peace
