[A] [E]
Yeah, we all live here as a happy little family
[B] It's like eight is enough in this [F#] place for [Em] a while like four months
[E] It was great.
[B] It was like the shining after
[Bm] [Em]
[B] [A] In [Gm] the year since Foo Fighters left Capitol Records [F] threesome moved in together [C#m] not with Jack Nicholson
But [D#] a Dave Rawls, Virginia [D] home and [G] recorded the forthcoming disc.
There [F] is nothing left to [D#] lose throughout November 2nd
we started work on it [A] last fall and
[G] This one
[Fm] [D#] Well last record we had a bunch of songs written [D] before we even went [G] in and this one kind of just [N] sat down and
Wrote them all for the [A] record.
So [G] we started practicing and at the same time we were [D#] building the studio in the house
and we didn't [A] have [D] a record
[Gm] company or a deadline [D#] or
[B] Anyone producer really [C] telling us what to do.
So we spent like four or five [Am] months just
[C] Around downstairs.
[A] This used to be a [Am] unfinished basement
Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't build a studio in your house [C] because you can you don't need an acoustical [E] engineer
all you need is
[E]
You don't need [C] much
What Dave and the boys did need however was a record label to [Am] release the new disc and given their track record
They were able to shop around [Fm] quite a bit
Talk to [F] Interscope and [C] talk to Maverick and talk to Columbia and [Em] talk to epic and talk to [A#] RCA
[F] and RCA seemed
[C] like
They were cool people who wanted to [Am] build a big
Rock roster rather than [Fm] it just be some machine
distributing
CDs like a [A] sprinkler.
I
Think the new record sounds [F#m] a lot more comfortable like we finally
[G#] [A] Gotten comfortable with writing
Songs that sound good and we're not scared of it
[G#] [F#m] [A]
[E] [D]
[E] And also on this record [A] we we use the talk box for [E] something which [A] Peter Frampton probably made most famous
So [C#] yeah, put [F#m] that thing in her mouth
[E] [A] And you know, do you feel like I [E] do and crowd?
[B] [F#m]
[E] You can do the time
[G] [A]
[B] There's a lot [F#m] less
Screamy [E] freakout.
I know the last song
I mean the last album to me [B] sometimes sounds like a hardcore band [C#] that was trying to be a [E] melodic rock
I
[A]
[F]
[D] [Bm] [A] With the record finished and fall tour plans looming the threesome literally had to get its act together and think about hiring
Replacement for departed guitarist from [D] style we decided okay, we're gonna be a three-piece
We'll be a three-piece and then we put you know, 50 guitars on every song.
How are we gonna pull that off?
Three of [E] us are [D] like best friends now, so you need to find someone that's a potential best friend
The [Em] foos found their new best buddy and Chris Shiflett [E] former member of punk bands
No use for a name and [D] 22 jacks who beat out 34 others for the coveted gig
I've had more fun recording [E] and making this record [G] than any record I've [D] ever made in my entire [Em] life because it was so relaxed and
We [A] lived with each other like [A#] five months and [A] we're about to go live with each other for [Bm] another year and a half on a bus
This could be the last [Am] record
[G#] [Em] [B]
