[Ab] Hi there, well, you recognize that one, Frank Sinatra's Fly Me to the Moon.
Now I have a finger style arrangement of this, but I thought it would be cool to have a chord
melody version with a track, because a lot of guys like to take these out and go gig with them.
So play that track, play the chord melody, and hey, you're good to go, maybe in a wine
bar or coffee house, something like that.
So the song isn't too hard because there's a lot of repetition.
The A section, 16 bars, is repeated for 9 of those bars, 9 or 10, in the B section.
So there's not, there's maybe 20, 24 measures of new music.
Now the key to the tune is the melody, obviously, and the groove, what a groove this is.
[F] The other thing about this arrangement is, as you can tell, [E] I'm playing it finger style,
and, you know, not finger style, but thumb style, playing it with my thumb, because I
like that West Montgomery sound.
This particular guitar is very mellow, and it even gets mellower playing [D] with the thumb.
But you can have a lot of expression with the thumb.
And what I've done is taken [Am] some of these chords, like an F major [E] 7, and we're eliminating
the C.
So we're going to play it kind of like this.
So it's a little thinner, and I think [C] it blends well with [Am] the rhythm section, as opposed to like this.
[C]
[D] [Em] So, I've been getting into playing like that, just a little [Dm] sparser.
[C] The intro on the [Em] Sinatra record is a vamp on A minor, and I've just kind [E] of thrown this,
created a little something for us to play.
So download the PDF, download the track, and pretend like you're playing in Vegas, because
you've got to play this song in Vegas.
And let's learn this Sinatra.
I hope to do some more Sinatra hits as well, because he's an artist that crosses [A]
generations.
So you want to learn his music.
Okay, let's get into it now with some close-ups.
With a vamp in A minor.
Basically, the recording, you know, just kind of walking around in A minor.
But we're going to do this.
First we're going to go A minor 7.
And I like to play it like this, as opposed to like [Am] this, because I only want these three notes.
Okay?
So, when I go like that, sometimes I get that top note, but I only want this one.
So I'm going to go, [C] and it's 1 and [A] 2, 3, up to a B minor, and [B] then to a C major 7, which
is only these three notes.
And then back down to B minor, [A]
and then [D] to E minor, like this.
[Eb] So those two measures sound like this.
3, 4, 1, and [Dm] 2, 3, [B] 4, 1, 2, and [G] 3, and 4.
[A]
Then, [Am] that's what we do on measure 3.
Measure 4 we're out, [D] and then we go and play our melody.
Now, if you wanted to, with your [F] band, the track doesn't do this, the track is only four
bars, but you could vamp it for a while.
So
[Am] [C] [G]
[Em] [Bb] [Dm] [E]
[C] [A]
[E] [Db] [Am] [C]
[B] [C] [D] [G]
