[Gm] [F]
Thunder [G] only happens when [F] it's raining.
[G]
[F] Players [G] only love you when [F] they're playing.
[G]
They [F] say women, they [C] will come and they [F] will go.
[G] [F] When the rain [G] washes you [F] clean, you'll know.
[Am] Dreams was written on [F] one of those nights where there [Am] wasn't anything for me to do.
[F] So I went down the [C] hall to a studio that was here in the record [F] plant.
It was Sly [C] Stone's studio.
And when I had nothing to do, I could take [Ab] all my stuff down there.
So I would take an electric piano with me.
And [G]
my crocheting and my journals and my books and my art.
I'd just kind of stay there until they needed me.
So one day, sitting in [C] Sly Stone's bed with this big black curtained bed.
Fabulous, you know, totally.
It wasn't my room, so it could be fabulous.
It was somebody else's room.
[E] I just went in there one afternoon and wrote Dreams.
[G] And I [F] knew when I wrote it that it was very special.
[C] And I [Gm] was really not self-conscious [F] or insecure about showing it to the [G] rest of the band.
I knew they were going to really like it.
[F] This is [G] pretty much what it sounded like [F] in the first few [G] days of working on it.
[C] [G]
[Fm] Once again, John [E] McVie.
You can recognize that bass [G] line anywhere.
[F] [G]
[F] [G] There [F] [G] you go.
Signature [F] John McVie Fleetwood bass [G] drum line.
[F] It's always [G] difficult to give your song to somebody
and [F] know that they're going to take it [G] to places you can't take it.
[Eb] Because they play guitar [G] and piano and arrange [F] music.
[G]
If they do a good job, then it's great.
If they don't, then [C] it's not great.
Then you wish you hadn't [G] given it up.
[F] Or you wish you'd been more [E] involved or you'd wish you'd been [G] there more.
Or something goes [C] wrong.
Lindsey had an amazing [F] way of taking my songs and making them [C] wonderful.
[F] [C] When he was [Am] happy with me.
[G] When we mix these songs, we [Am] usually look for the heart and soul of a song.
And we kind of tear this mix down in different areas and [C] see what worked, what didn't work.
And what did we build the song around.
And you can see [F] right there pretty well the [C] core of the [G] song.
[F]
