[D] [A] [D] [A] The 56 Strat is a platform for us that a lot of guys ask for it.
It's [G] always something that [A] sticks out in the line and we wanted to do something cool this
year with it.
There's something romantic about a beat up Stratocaster [G] and when you think of [Gbm] iconic
Strats like Blackie or Brownie or Lenny or Rory Gallagher's Strat, they're beat up.
[C] [D]
[A] The 60th anniversary of the Stratocaster is this year.
This one was really kind of more based on a guy who just wants a Strat.
He wants to grab a Strat and go play, you know?
Instead of it being like a showpiece or something like that.
We do have that [G] coming out for the 60th anniversary and that's a different guitar.
But we just [A] wanted something that, you know, for a Stratocaster player [E] is just like a [A] straight
ahead, you know, move.
[G] When
[A] [E] you first see this guitar you just go, okay, well [A] it's a Strat.
It's a beat up Strat and that's all there is to it.
But there's so much going on under the hood.
We did some things that we get a lot of requests for, which is a flatter radius.
This is a 9 [Dbm].5 inch radius and then 6105 fret.
Five way [N] switch, modern wiring so you have a volume, tone control for the front pickup
and then the [A] back tone control works for the middle pickup as well as the rear pickup.
If you're in that back position you can roll that off a little bit and get that real high
end rolled [Dm] off.
[F]
[G]
[Gm] [Bb] [Gm] One of the things [Ab] about the pickups is that there's [F] a reverse round, reverse pull [C] pickup.
When we do the reverse round, reverse [Ab] pull pickup [G] in the middle position, all the [D] in-between
positions, [E] these two [Gm] pickups together [C] or these two pickups [D] together, those [Bb] are humbucking.
It cancels [Cm] out the hum so it's a real [Dm] clear, straight thing.
It's a nice quiet Strat, [F] especially in those in-between positions there.
The [Ab] pickups are what we call master [D] design pickups.
We sit down with [Ab] the master builders and they'll come up [Am] with different [G] ideas.
We kind of push each other around.
It's a [Bb] real creative environment.
[F] Whenever we do an instrument in the custom shop, we have [Ab] access to a [G] lot of the original
tooling and a lot of the processes that Fender used in the 50s and 60s we're still using
in the custom shop.
For example, like the neck [Bb] shape on [Cm] all the guitars that come out of the custom [Dm] shop,
it's done with a big routing [C] bit that cuts one side and then you cut the other side.
It's done on a pin [D] router.
That tool, that machine, it's actually the original pin router.
[G] [Bb]
[C] [A] Everything else is [E] done by hand.
[Gbm] Contours are year [G] specific, so we [D] have jigs and [A] fixtures that we've made off of the original
bodies of 50s and 60s Strats.
Where this line starts and where this [D] line ends [A] is pretty significant, so we want to
make sure we get that right.
