[A] [Am] Lick [B] number one is something that I heard Lee Rittenhauer play.
Now before I get to the lick,
let's first check out the chords.
The chords are F major [F] 7,
[G] G and A [Am] minor.
And [C] all of these licks happen on the A minor chord.
Now the lick here is based
out of [F] the A pentatonic minor scale starting on the E.
[G] [E]
[A] [G#] [E] And what you're going to do is you're
going to descend by a semitone.
Then the next note in the [G] scale.
[G] [E] Next note.
[B]
[Em] [E]
[E] [A] [E]
[C#] One more [Em] time.
[Am] [D#] [E] [G]
[F]
[G] [A] [Am]
[C] [G]

[F] [G]
Lick number two is in the style of George Benson and it looks like this.
[B] [Am]
There are two parts to it.
The first one is this [D]
[A]
[E] [C] and the [Dm] second part is the part with the double stops.
[Am] [D] [Am]
[Am] [B] So you're going to
keep your pinky here on the [A] A note.
[Am]
[Dm] [Am] [Am]
So together.
[B] Now if you are interested in this type of guitar
playing a mix of jazz, pop and R&B, well then I encourage you to subscribe to this channel because
that is my area of expertise.
[A] As a matter of fact I'm almost done a part two smooth jazz guitar licks

[Am] Alright lick number three is in [N] the style of West Montgomery and it uses some octaves played with
your thumb.
So to do that I take my pick and I put it inside my fingers like this and I'm ready to
go with my thumb.
[B] [Em] [E]
That's [F#] the lick.
[Em]
[A] [C#] Again use the side of your thumb right here.
It's going to
produce a nice soft sound.
[Em]
[A] [Em] [A]
[Em] [E]
[D#]
[Em] [Am] [F#] In general it's a good idea to get a handle on this type of playing and
to make some nice melodies you can use the blues scale.
It'll work.
[A]
[A] [Am] These little slides, half step
slides go a long way.
[D#]
[Am] [D] [C] [E]
[F]
[D] [A] [Am]

[D] [A] [Am]
[F]
[G]
Lick number four is in the style of Pat Metheny and it uses the blues scale.
[A]
[Em] [D]
[Em] Now it's important that you play these notes as chromatic notes.
[E] See that?
[A]
[Em] [F#] That's a straight blues
lick.
[Em] [A]
[C] Alright everybody that is it for this video lesson [G] smooth jazz guitar licks.
