Exmortus' Conan Gonzalez - Metal is Appealing to the Outcasts | Jackson Guitars chords

[A] [Eb] [A]
[Eb]
I like a lot of different types of music so a good source of inspiration is classical
music for writing.
[N] I like to study my favorite scorers and there's many complex pieces, there's very simple
pieces and very heavy fucking pieces.
[Eb] [Gb] I mean we cover Moonlight Sonata [G] and another Beethoven piano sonata, Appassionata.
A lot of atta atta atta, right?
Italian.
My [Eb] [G] [Eb]
[N] dad was into a lot of the, he was around in the 80s so he loved the good shit, the
good heavy metal stuff so he gave us all his CDs, he played Iron Maiden, Judas Priest for
us and that pretty much paved the path for us to start our own band and play heavy metal.
Obviously we're more extreme but we always look to the good old stuff for inspiration.
I think I love heavy metal mostly because it's appealing to the outcasts and awkward
people like myself.
It's for everyone really because it's appealing in many ways.
It's aggressive, it can also be dynamic, highly expressive and emotional and passionate so
it's very appealing to people that are really into the art and can get really deep into certain subjects.
That's why I like it so much.
Rondo was probably my introduction to the classical style of shredding.
I just like the way it sounded.
It fits well in heavy metal.
Obviously I was saying about Beethoven and all that good stuff.
Yngwie came afterwards to an extreme level because he's always noodling away.
So yeah, it really appealed to me.
Jason Becker, Marty Friedman, the whole style of outrageous shred, virtuosity, really pushing
your skill to the next level.
I always do that, I always try to push myself to the next level.
[Cm]
[G] [Eb] [Bb] [Fm] It's like a tick.
I [N] just pick up the guitar all the time.
I like to see myself as Squiskar from Death Clock because he's always just playing and stuff, practicing.
I don't know, I just manage to make that into a habit.
Just pick up the guitar every day and just noodle around and learn new stuff.
Sometimes if I don't have too much time, which if I do it would be like, I don't know how
long, time escapes me.
So I'm playing there for probably six hours if I can.
But if not I'll play like 30 minutes just to get practicing so I don't lose my chops or anything.
So I'm worried about that.
Nothing worse than getting rusty.
[Ab] The first time I noticed Jackson was Randy's shape.
The model is just [Eb] spiky and just looks awesome.
And of course the white guitar looks amazing.
It stands out.
Since I started I was [N] into Randy like about 10, 11.
Jackson guitars struck me as fucking awesome and ideal for shred.
So I've been playing Jackson since then.
So for a good 16 years now.
My first Jackson was a Dinky.
Then I got the Randy.
My dad was like, okay I guess you earned it now.
So here's your first Randy Rhodes V.
And it was pretty awesome.
Unfortunately I lost it on the road somehow.
We flew off our truck and the way we tied it up in the truck, it was of course a truck.
So it was bare to the elements and something happened.
Turned too harsh.
I don't know.
We noticed our stuff falling off and then we picked everything back off from the highway,
inside of the highway, but we couldn't find my guitar.
So yeah, it was gone.
Gone for good.
Saddest part of my life.
But I got some more to make up for it.
[Eb]
[Db]
[Abm] [N] Yeah this is the RR Pro Series Rhodes.
Of course none other than Jackson itself here.
It kicks ass.
Besides looking awesome, I really like on guitars just the tremolo system.
They're kind of a bitch to deal with, but I love the whole whammy stuff.
Sometimes he calls.
I like to improvise a lot, so having that option is very handy.
So I could just wail away and do like Dimebag dive bombs and stuff.
I feel it.
I always mess around anyway.
I'm a noodler, so it's fun to do that.
I like the passive sound, so I always enjoy the Seymour Duncan's in all my guitars.
White guitars are the shit, because no matter where you are on stage, you're in the back,
anywhere you go, you're always in a standout, because it's just white and it looks good
in darkness and light, extreme light, so it's always good.
I'm an attention whore.
I'm awkward, I'm introvert, but yet I am an attention whore and I'm like, yeah, check this out.
So gotta have white guitars for that.
Are you ready for the shreddy with this baby?
Yeah.
