[Fm] Hi, my name is Dave Clark and I'm creative director at Littleness Publishing Company.
John Jennings asked me if I would share a story about a new song we have coming out
called Every Road.
Some people know that I've written songs for years.
What most people don't know is that I have a hobby of video editing.
And we were shooting the video for this particular song and I knew I wanted, in one of the scenes,
I wanted one of the old time baptisms like they used to do in the old days.
And so I found a little lake outside of Nashville and I thought it might be a good place to
shoot the video.
It was summer and I asked my wife and kids if they would come and be there and be huggers
at the shore like they used to do in the old days.
And I needed somebody to do the baptism.
So I called an old retired preacher at my church and I asked if he would come.
I said, just get whoever you want.
I don't care.
You know, it's just for a visual and I need you there at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning.
The light will be right.
So my wife and the kids, they get there and the old preacher pulls in and he had some
man with him from our church.
I was kind of in my mind picturing somebody a little younger, but I was, you know, no
place to be picky or choosy at that point.
So I said, hey, I appreciate you coming out on short notice.
And the guy looked at me and he said, no, you don't understand.
He said, what you don't know is that for 40 some years I was an alcoholic.
He said, nine years ago I gave my heart to the Lord.
For nine years I've needed to be baptized.
And when Pastor Bob called, [Abm] it was just, it was, I knew it was God.
So you got to know the video guy in me.
I'm thinking, okay, we've got a real lake.
We've got a real preacher.
And now the hair is starting to stand on the end of my arms because we've got a real baptism.
And he took the old man out and baptized him.
And he came up with a glow on his face that you just can't get any other way, but what
God's really doing the real thing.
We started to pack the cameras up and my wife said, hey Dave.
I looked over, I said, what's up?
She pointed down to our little eight year old boy.
And he was, he's eight now.
He was about four or five at the time.
And [Db] he was crying.
I said, Sam, what's the matter?
He said, I want to be baptized too.
And I kind of lost all track of what was going on.
They put the cameras back up without me knowing about it.
And I looked at the preacher.
I said, what do we do?
He said, you never tell him no.
He came over and he knelt down.
He said, Sam, do you know what it means to be baptized?
And Sam was just crying big old crocodile tears.
[Bb] And he said, it means I really love Jesus.
And [Db] I went out thinking I'd get a video shoot.
I ended up with that preacher walking my little boy out into that nasty old water and baptizing him.
And it was one of the most surreal moments I've ever experienced.
And I told Littleness they could have the shot of the preacher walking him in the water,
but the baptism, I didn't want to let go for commercial reasons.
So I hope you enjoy the song and I hope you enjoy the video.
But I just want you to know, yeah, there's quite a bit more to it on a personal [Bb] level for me.
