[Db] I'm both an emerging playwright

anecdotes.

to alternative revenue [Gb] streams.

I don't [G] mind working for a living.
[Gb] The one thing I always wanted from [Ab] my life,
the sound of music, the sound of music,
aside from the love [Gb] of a good woman, was time.

Time [G] to make up stories, [Gb] preferably while eating.
[Ab] And this job has given me that.
[G] It [Gb] has enabled my work as a writer
[Ab] and put food into my [Gb] mouth.
It has sustained me as a [Ab] citizen of our town
and [Gb] allowed me to avoid running for mayor.

and it's [Ab] nice the way we do it.

There are times when I come through for my [G] job in a pinch
and [Ab] times when my job saves me from myself.
When I [Gb] show up to the office [G] after a few days at home
and I'm like a sixth grader
walking out [Gb] of Yom Kippur services,
my [Gm] throat parched, my soul [Db] screaming
for escape from its own [Ab]
twitchiness.
