I'm Wednesday 13 from the Murder Dolls and Wednesday 13 and today I'm playing the Phoenix
1000 from ESP.
This is the LTD.
The thing that caught my eye about the Phoenix from ESP, I saw this a couple years ago in
Japan when I was touring there and I saw it in some of the custom shops and things there
and finally they started making these models here so I immediately had to get one.
The neck on these guitars are the maple necks which to me are such a soft, almost like a
sanded type kind of wood feel to it which to me just makes a total difference.
Your hand can slide so much better with it and it doesn't feel like it gets stuck for
me but with these guitars, the thing I liked the most immediately was when I saw the shape of it.
I'm the kind of guy that always plays my guitars down at my knees but with this guitar I can
kind of still center it where it looks low but I can still actually play it without flubbing
notes and things like that.

[Ab] [Db] The Phoenix 1000 has a neck through body construction, mahogany body and the maple neck and the
ebony fingerboard.
For me, having a neck through is just basically one solid piece of wood whereas your bolt-on
necks, not that that's to say that's terrible guitars or anything but just having one solid
piece of something definitely brings a lot more to the table I think.
A thicker, warmer sound than the bolt-on necks.
Also on the Phoenix 1000 it has chrome hardware and the ESP locking tuners here which really
come in handy live because once these things are locked in they do not go out of tune unless
you're just going completely crazy which does happen.
And as Seymour Duncan said, JB-59s in there.
Three-way toggle as well on here so you get different sounds with your heavier sound which is [C] a

One thing I like the most about this guitar as well for me and the way I play and things,
you know I used to always have the toggle switches up here when I would buy them and
I would always have them wired or just cut off but the thing about the Phoenix is that
the toggle switch is at the bottom because I'm always doing windmills and things with
my hands and always doing the thing where I turn my guitar completely off in the middle
and there's nothing worse than doing a rock move and then turn your guitar off.
That's the worst thing so having that little thing at the bottom there is a big help for me.
I know it sounds kind of dumb to go, you just don't hit it.
Well, and you're in the middle of rock and you can't help but do that sometimes.
So the Phoenix 1000 is the latest guitar from ESP that I have started playing.
I recorded my Final Corpses with it and I've been using ESP now since 2003 and I've been
I travel all over the world bringing these guitars and I've seen them go through the
baggage belts and things at airports and the cases be destroyed and the guitars still come
out and they're never harmed.
So these things can definitely take a licking and keep on ticking so to speak but I highly
recommend you guys go check this guitar out.
It's my favorite guitar out there today and so go out to your local guitar stores, check
it out, put one on and play it and also check me out on tour.
I'll be out in October with my new record Calling All Corpses on Wednesday 13.
Thank you for watching ESP-TV.
