ERIC CLAPTON & STEPHEN STILLS "Questions" (guitar overdubs & interview) chords
Start Jamming...
[A] I like the birds a lot and [F#] I like their kind of philosophy, the musical philosophy really, you know, folk rock.
Folk rock to me, it was the songwriting too.
It was beautiful.
Beach Boys [N] was a primary thing where the Cream was kind of philosophically driven by the idea that we could somehow do something like that or [D] be inspired by that, Pet Sounds, you know.
We went to LA with the Cream and I hadn't been there more than about an hour and there was a knock at the door and Stephen Stills was there with a guitar, you know.
He just came in and took his guitar out of the case and said, I hear you like this.
He played the bluebird?
He played the same bluebird.
[B] I met Judy [A] Collins and Eric [Em] Clapton on the same night.
I went to [G] the Whiskey to see Eric [D] and so [A] I'm flirting with Judy, trying to listen [G] to Eric [A] who's blowing my mind and so I'm overwhelmed.
[A] And then later on, Crosby had brought Eric to my little [B] house in Laurel Canyon [N] and the changes to questions were derived from a song of Judy's called Since You've Asked.
And I just took this first three chords and changed the cadence and everything and it evolved into the song and I think I was playing it for him as I was trying to write it and later ended up on a Buffalo Springfield album.
I haven't listened to that stuff for a long time, you know, the West Coast music at all.
The original version.
I haven't heard the original version [B] of questions for a long, long, long time.
And it really [A] took me back.
[Em]
[G] [A]
It [E] took me back to the song that I had done to around the same time, a little later, actually.
Called Let It Rain.
And it was one of the first songs I'd ever [G] written.
[A] And there's that [D] kind of, I was [A] influenced by it, I think.
[Em] Yeah, I thought that we talked about having hopefully [G] playing that song with Stephen.
Yeah.
[D] I wonder if that was going to [A] be, [A] is that going to bother you [E] that there's a similar [E] feel?
Well, I didn't, I must have copped it [A] and not even known, you know.
We can edit that part right out.
I don't know.
I think, no, that's very important for people to know.
Well, Stephen knows you [A] want it.

[D] [A]
[Em] [G]
[Bm] [D] [A]
[Em] [G]
[D] [A]
[Em] [G]
[D] Sorry, [G#m] I got lost.
Whatever happened in the solo section was great.
With you and Eric together.
Yeah.
When Eric's playing in the top of the second solo, you know, he's playing in the higher register.
And I think anything in the lower register would be cool [A] as a compliment.
[E]
[Bm] [D] [G]
[A] [Em]
[G] Eric was very meticulous [E] about reminding me back then.
He said, you know, [F] when you're doing this on stage, you must [Dm] take turns.
Much like schoolyard, you know.
Generally.
[E] [A] [Em]
[G] [D]
