[C] [A#] [Dm] [G] [C]
He complained [F] and you criticized
[C] I feel I'm no money, baby, in [F] your [C] eyes
You make me feel like [F] giving up, [G] yeah
[C] Well then, on to your next record, so, a studio album, we've been [G] with you for four years, when's the next one coming out then?
I started on it already, I went down to New Orleans and some of Fat Stomano's old band, and I was like in heaven
We got four tracks done, [C] and then I left there and the oil came gushing out of the ground
And it was the same with the last record, it was Katrina, I was in the middle of making an album
And then I went, God, Katrina is happening, we have to make a record about what's happening to the people there
So, it's not just you decide to go into the studio and make a record, it's timing
And at my age, there's no point in hurrying to get an album out
I don't have a record company, there isn't any record companies as far as I'm concerned
Not for my genre anyway, which is no genre at all, this is my problem
I can't be pigeonholed, because I just sang, so any song I say I like it, I'll sing it
And the business end of it goes, oh, where does this belong?
[E] It belongs on [D] my record, that's it
[Em]
[D] [Em]

[Gm]
[F] [Gm] The audiences want [F] the old stuff, [Gm] they're so [C] nostalgic bound
They want to hear the songs that I recorded in the 60s
So, [A] I do them, but I'm going to put my own mark on them
Because I had guys that I really respected in the past, like Jimmy Witherspoon
Told me, never sing the same song twice
And that's the jazz in me, I was a jazzer before I was a rocker
And I've always been trying to get back
And maybe next year, there'll be horns in the band
Maybe next year, I won't sing the animal songs
Maybe next year, I'll be just saying, this is me, take it for what it is
But then again, I like the money
We all like to make money, you know
And as long as you're not constantly selling your soul to the devil
As long as you know that that deal with the devil is over with
[Bm] And the songs that I sing from the Animals catalogue, they're good songs
They're more than songs, they're anthems for people
I [C#m] still feel your fingertips [A] upon my forehead
Begging [G] me to stay, don't run away, [F#] yeah
Stephen Hartley, baby
[D] I'm just a soul [Bm] whose intentions you'll
