[Ebm]
Clear Day is my 11th record and it's a very special one for me, [B] both personally and musically.
This record is huge [Ebm] in scope.
Toronto, Mexico, Amsterdam, Montreal.
[Eb] When we decided that it was going to be a recording with an orchestra, we decided on
the [Ebm] Metropole Orchestra, partly [Bb] because of their long history as a [Eb] jazz orchestra.
Their conductor, Jules Buckley, is interested [Ebm] in such a wide variety of music.
We really felt that he was the [Ab] right person to bring this to an orchestra.
On [Eb] a [Db] clear [Ebm] day, [E] rise and look around [Ab] [E] you.
[Gb] The album tells a story, [Dbm] a [Ebm] story that begins in [Abm] 2011 in the Canadian Arctic.
To tell the story from [Dbm] where I stand now, I looked back at that [Db] time and identified
important milestones on my path [C] leading to [Eb] where I am today.
I chose [E] repertoire [Gb] to specifically represent [B] those milestones.
[Gb]
Each song [Gbm] represents my state of mind, a turning [Ab] point, a crossroad.
I was open to every genre of music, [Ab] every era.
The important thing was that the song would be in the role [E] that particular moment in time.
[Bm]
[A] [Db] This is at once the [E] most expansive [Gb] and ambitious [Bm] project and the most intimate and personal.
[E] Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice, warmer [G] than the summer [A] night.
[F] The clouds were like an alabaster palace.
This record is huge in scope [Em] and I think that's fitting [Eb] because it's meant [Ebm] in part to represent
the [Gb] wonder of the world, travel, [Dbm] new places, new languages, that feeling of [E] discovery.
[F] And it's pushed all of my boundaries, which [Gm] is exactly what I wanted [F] and it's what I [Bb] needed.
[Gm] [B] [Am]
[E] This [A] album is a bit of a departure for me and [Bm] it [B] really represents [D] [E] my growth as a person,
[B] my growth as a musician, and I really hope that my [A] audience is willing to come along
on this journey [Eb] with me.
[E] No promises to keep, [G] I got no [A] deeds to do.
No promises [E] to keep, I got no deeds to do.
[A] [B] No [E] promises to keep, [A] [Bm] I got no deeds.
