We've broken down embryonic journey into [G#] 13 clips to make it easy for you to learn.
Each clip is run at first 100% speed and then at 75% speed.
You can slow it down, it stays in pitch, and you can see what Jorm is doing and I'll show you exactly what he's up to.
So here's the first clip.

Embryonic Journey
Embryonic Journey is played in a drop D tuning, which means the 6th string goes from your E to a D.
It's tuned to the same as the open 4th.
They're both Ds.
The chords you'll need, firstly a D, which is fingered as such, on the 7th fret.
And your pinky is on the D note at the 10th, which makes it the D.
The 4th [F#] is the G, and if you look on the chalkboard at the chord chart, [F#] there's the [Em] formation of the G.
And you'll [Bm] be hammering on from the D [D] to that G.
[G] You'll also be using this bar where you're barring 6th, 5th, and 4th.
The 6th, [E] 5th, and 4th string of the 5th fret, [A] the [F#] 4th, [G] [F#] [Em] the 2nd, to an A.
[A] The 8th, [G] pop up to the A7, [C#m] [D] to your D.
Here's what Jorm is doing in the first clip.
We'll call it the intro.
Again, it's the D hammering on to the 4th.
It's very important to keep the alternating bass going.
In this case, it's the 6th and 4th strings throughout the song.
One more time.
Now you'll notice vibrato is a big part of this as well.
But just to call out what the right hand's up to while I'm doing this,
it starts with the hammer on.
So I'm pinching the 2nd and the 4th strings.
So follow the right hand and just play that over and over until you get that.
Again.
It's more important that you hear what's going on and then you try to emulate.
Rather than for me to sit here and tell you exactly, because again, in this case, it's a lot easier done than said,
the order of the picking that's going on here.
I'll slow it down.
[D]
So what's happening there is
Now.
So I'm sliding up using my ring finger on the 9th fret,
up two frets to the 11th,
and following it with my middle finger to the 10th fret of the 2nd string.
Then back down.
Same two notes.
To the root.
Back to the D. Again.
[Bm]
[D]
And that's the intro.
So it's done twice.
Again, focus on hearing what you want it to sound like,
emulating what Jorma's doing,
and also the vibrato is very important in that intro.
Give it a little pressure as you're shaking.
Let the guitar ring out.
