[E] Hello friends Hal here today, we're going to work on E minor 7
Before we actually just show you what that is.
Let's go back to E
Why don't you zoom in and we'll show you how it goes
So here's your E chord remember this one
Now if I want to make an E minor chord, I just lift this finger
[Em] And if I go back to E if I wanted to make an E7 chord, I just lift the [E] ring finger
So for an E minor 7, I'm going to lift both the first finger and the third finger
[Em]
[E] Now the only thing that I'm doing is playing on the A string second fret right there the E string is open A
[B] string second fret
D string is open [G] G is open B is open E is [Em] open and that's E [Bm] minor 7
Now
This is the 7 [D] right there, that's the note it's a D note
[E] And there's our seventh interval
[D] Right there [E] now.
I could also play E minor 7 like [Em] this
With the [D] D note right here and just play the [Em] E minor
like that with our little finger on the third fret B string and
And make an E minor 7 like that I could do it with my ring finger or my little finger like this
Okay, that puts the the 7
Higher into the chord and we can hear it better
but if you want a really smooth velvety E minor 7 chord with that D lower then
Make sure you play this low [D] D string right here right [Em] there
If you really wanted to
You wanted a lot of D
Then you could do [D] both you could put your little finger right there or your ring finger on the third fret B string and have two D's
[Em] Personally I think that's too much D.
So I just usually go for one or the other this one or this one
So there's your E minor 7, thank you for coming by and we'll talk to you later
