[C] What is going on [A] YouTube?
My name is Carlton Maybell aka True Music and today I'm going to [G] show you how to play Trip by Ella Mai.
This song is very simple and it's in the key of D major.
So I know this song has a solo at the end of it.
I'm not going to show the piano solo in this video.
But if you all want me to show it to you, I learned it and I can make another video for it.
So let's get into the song.
I'm going to play some of it for you first and then I'm going to show you how to play it.
It [Bm] sounds like this.
I put my fears [Em] in my safety, [Bm] so I don't go shootin' [A] over your heart beat.
[Bm] [Em] And [F#m]
it's a whole [Bm] lotta love, ain't [Em] gonna take it.
Whole lotta love, ain't [F#m] gonna waste it.
It's just a pair of [Bm] four wires, ain't [Em] gonna need it.
It's [Bm] just a pair of four wires, ain't [A] gonna take it.
But I [D] know that I'm [Em] not trippin'.
I'm not trippin'.
I'm [F#m] not trippin'.
Ain't gonna take [Bm] it.
[G] [A]
[D] But I know that I'm [Em] not trippin'.
I'm not [Bm] trippin'.
I'm [F#m] not trippin'.
Ain't gonna take [Bm] it.
[Em] [Bm] [F#m]
And that is the song.
We're going to get into the tutorial.
[N] What I'm going to do is I'm going to show you basically what the loop is.
It's only like three chords.
And those are these.
So your first chord is B [Bm] minor 9.
Left hand doing a B in the [B] bass.
Right hand [A] doing an A, C [D] sharp, D, F [Bm] sharp.
That's your first chord.
Then your second chord [Em] is an E minor 9.
Left hand doing an E in the bass.
Right hand doing a [G] G, B, [Bm] D, F sharp.
[Em] So that is your second chord.
That's also your third chord, because you're going to hit it again.
Alright?
And then your last chord is an F [F#m] sharp minor 7.
Alright?
So those are the chords.
So it pretty much sounds like [D] this.
[Bm] [F#m]
Now you could play the whole [Bm] song that way with just the chords.
That's the most simple way to play it.
So if you're like a beginner, you could play it that way and that's cool.
If you want to make it sound exactly like the song or play it exactly like the song,
there's a few more things that go on with the left hand.
So what that sounds like is this.
[Em] [Bm] [F#m]
So I'm going to show you that now.
So what you're going to do, you're going to go to your first chord, which is [Bm] your B minor 9.
Then your left hand is going to hit an F sharp.
And then your right hand is going to play every single note in the chord,
starting from [D] the bottom.
So it's going to go.
So you're going to go like this.
[Bm] Play it slowly.
Alright, then you go to your E minor 9.
[Em] And after you hit this E minor 9, your left hand is going to go back up to this F sharp.
And it's going to [F#] hit it.
And then your right hand [G] is going to hit this G.
So [Bm] you're going to go.
[Em] Alright?
Then, [D] your right hand is going to hit this D by itself.
And then you're just going to run [Bm] up all the notes.
So you're going to go.
So after you hit this D by itself, you hit your E minor 9 again.
[Em] Then your left hand hits this [F#] F sharp.
[Bm] And your right hand runs up every note in [G] the chord.
[Bm]
Okay?
I'm trying not to be confusing, but it'll sound like this.
And then that leads you into your F sharp minor [F#m] 7.
After you hit this chord, your left hand is going to hit this E.
And then your right hand is going to [A] do A, higher A.
And then the lower A.
And then the A again.
The lower A.
This is how it's going to go.
[F#m]
Alright?
I know this might be a little confusing.
It's hard to explain it, but I'm going to play it very slowly for you.
To try to eliminate all the confusion.
So, here it is.
It sounds like this.
[Bm]
[Em] [Bm]
[F#m]
Again, [Bm] [Em]
[Bm] [F#m]
that is the loop.
Alright?
So I'm going to play it up to speed.
And it just sounds like [Bm] this.
[G]
[A] [D] [Bm]
[F#m] [D] [Em] And that's it right there.
That is the loop.
Now, the [G#] last thing that you can do.
And they do this at the end of the song, closer to the end.
Is she'll lead in like [Bm] this.
[Bm]
[F#m] Alright?
So it's just [Bm] that lead in.
[Em] [B] And it's really simple.
What you're going to do.
Your left hand is going to do a B in the bass.
Your right hand is going to do [Bm] an [F#] F [D] sharp.
A, D.
[Bm] This is a B minor 7.
First [C#m] chord.
Then your left hand is going to go up to the C sharp.
Your right [B] hand is going to hit a B [E] and an E together.
[C#m] Then your left hand is going to go to this D [D] natural.
Then your right hand is going to go to this A, D, F sharp.
This is a D major.
And then you're going to finish on an E [G] minor 7.
Left hand [Em] doing an E.
Right hand doing a G, B, D.
And that is that part.
So you'll just [Bm] go.
[E] [D] [Em]
Alright?
And then you just finish out the loop.
With your E minor [F#m] 9 up to your F sharp minor 7.
So you can add that in if you want to just give it a little bit more flair.
You can just.
And [C#m] then.
[D] [Em] And then.
And then. And [F#m] then.
You know what I'm saying?
You can do [Bm] that.
[Em] Real smooth.
[F#m]
And then you can go back [Bm] to your loop.
[F#m] [Em] You understand [F#] what I'm saying?
[G#m] So that is the song.
I hope this helped.
I hope I wasn't too confusing.
You know it's in the morning right now for me.
So you know my brain isn't all the way woken up yet.
I try to stay woke but right now it's not woke.
You know.
Like I said if you want the solo part that's in this song.
I can put it in another video.
But I didn't want to do it in this video.
I just wanted to keep this one kind of simple.
So that is the song.
Please like, share, comment, subscribe.
All those things.
I love when you all leave comments.
It really keeps me motivated.

So [Bm] you're going to go.
[Em] _ _ Alright? _ _
Then, [D] your right hand is going to hit this D by itself. _ _
And then you're just going to run [Bm] up all the notes.
So you're going to go.
_ _ So after you hit this D by itself, you hit your E minor 9 again.
_ [Em] Then your left hand hits this [F#] F sharp.
[Bm] And your right hand runs up every note in [G] the chord.
[Bm] _
_ Okay?
I'm trying not to be confusing, but it'll sound like this. _ _
_ _ And then that leads you into your F sharp minor [F#m] 7.
_ After you hit this chord, your left hand is going to hit this E. _
And then your right hand is going to [A] do A, higher A.

And then the A again.
The lower A.
This is how it's going to go.
[F#m] _
_ Alright?
I know this might be a little confusing.
It's hard to explain it, but I'm going to play it very slowly for you.

Again, [Bm] _ _ _ _ _ [Em] _
_ _ [Bm] _ _ _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ _ _ _ that is the loop.
Alright?
So I'm going to play it up to speed.
And it just sounds like [Bm] this.
[G] _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ [D] _ _ [Bm] _ _ _
_ [F#m] _ _ _ [D] _ [Em] _ And that's it right there.
That is the loop.
Now, the [G#] last thing that you can do.
And they do this at the end of the song, closer to the end.
Is she'll lead in like [Bm] this.
[Bm] _ _ _
_ _ _ [F#m] Alright?
So it's just [Bm] that lead in. _
[Em] _ _ [B] And it's really simple.
What you're going to do.
Your left hand is going to do a B in the bass.
Your right hand is going to do _ [Bm] an [F#] F [D] sharp.
A, D.
[Bm] This is a B minor 7.
First [C#m] chord.
Then your left hand is going to go up to the C sharp.
Your right [B] hand is going to hit a B [E] and an E together.
[C#m] _ _ Then your left hand is going to go to this D [D] natural. _
Then your right hand is going to go to this A, D, F sharp.
This is a D major. _
And then you're going to finish on an E [G] minor 7.
Left hand [Em] doing an E.
Right hand doing a G, B, D.
_ And that is that part.
So you'll just [Bm] go.
[E] _ [D] _ [Em] _ _
Alright?
And then you just finish out the loop.
With your E minor [F#m] 9 up to your F sharp minor 7.
So you can add that in if you want to just give it a little bit more flair.
You can just.
And [C#m] then.
[D] _ [Em] And then.
And then. And [F#m] then.
You know what I'm saying?
You can do [Bm] that.
[Em] _ Real smooth.
_ [F#m] _
And then you can go back [Bm] to your loop.
[F#m] _ [Em] _ You understand [F#] what I'm saying?
[G#m] So that is the song.
I hope this helped.
I hope I wasn't too confusing.
