Next up in Electro-Harmonix Nano series is the Dr.
Q Envelope Follower.
The Dr.
Q Envelope Follower is a classic envelope funk box,
exactly the same as the original Dr.
Q, but in a much smaller form factor.
Let's talk about some of the features.
It's running off battery right now, but it does have the power adapter.
We got input and output, of course.
On-off button.
We have a range knob and a bass switch.
Let's talk about what they do.
The range knob controls the frequency range in which the filter is gonna move.
And the pedal produces the sound from a combination of variables.
Let's see, how loud your guitar is, what kind of dynamics you're using,
meaning hard or soft picking attack.
And it also depends on where you have the frequency range set.
And that combination of variables is gonna give you many different wah-like sounds.
When you have the range completely counter-clockwise, you're gonna get little [B] or no sweep.
And when you have it [G] fully counter [E]-clockwise,
you're gonna be getting the [N] full sweep through the frequency range.
The bass switch simply gives you more bass.
It allows more bass frequencies to pass through, so it's gonna give you more bass.
So let's listen to this pedal as it is right now,
where we have the range completely counter-clockwise,
but our bass switch engaged, which is basically gonna just give us a bass boost.
So [E] here it is.
[Em]
[D] [E] [Em]
[E] Let's disengage the bass here and see what that sounds like.
[G]
[A] Obviously, much less bass.
[E] Let's put it back in.
[Em]
Big, big difference.
So again, you can hear in the range there's very little or no sweep happening.
So let's put this up to about 50% and take another listen.
[E]
[Em]
[E]
So [N] now we're getting that quacky, ducky, classic envelope follower kind of sound.
And it's flowing nicely through the sweeping range.
And let's crank it up here to [Em] 100% fully clockwise.
[E]
[A] [E] [Em] [D]
[A] [E] [Bb] You can hear it's cranking up there to those high frequencies,
getting way down to the low frequencies, so it's sweeping [N] through the full frequency range.
So there's the Dr.
