Edge of Glory - Bryson Andres LIVE on NBC chords
Start Jamming...
On Monday we talked about a cool video of a street performer, a violinist down at River Park Square, performing live for the folks in that area.
And how that video went viral over the weekend.
6,000 hits I believe alone on Sunday.
And we put it out on Facebook asking folks if they knew who he was.
We got a spirited response.
We even asked for the person, Bryson Andres, to contact us.
And sure enough, he did.
And he joins us live in our studios.
He's nice enough to come down.
Hi Bryson.
Hello.
Let's talk about, first of all, how you got to where you are now playing the violin.
Tell us about it.
Well, I started in 6th grade and I was following a girl into orchestra class because I really liked her.
Funny how that worked out.
It's crazy.
You owe her a bit of a thank you, huh?
I guess.
I guess.
You did most of the work.
Talk about where you perform if folks want to see you, other than River Park Square.
I'm a traveling musician.
So when I travel around, it's usually on the west coast.
So I'll hit up Seattle, Spokane, San Francisco, Portland, and then eventually down to L.A.
Then come back up and do it all over again.
This is my first year traveling on my own.
And [A#] it's like, it's the best thing you can [N] do when you're young is just travel.
You play in all sorts of venues.
Tell us about that.
I perform in smaller venues like recital halls.
And then I'll do arena shows.
And then I'll go to performing arts centers and perform.
But what I really like to do is perform on the streets where everybody can just experience my music and just relax.
And you're from Anchorage, Alaska, correct?
Yes.
But you visit Spokane every so often.
Why?
I have family here.
My cousin Aaron and my cousin's wife Aisha live here in their Air Force.
Oh, right on.
Well, I'm sure they're proud of what you're doing.
Talk about your future aspirations.
Is this it?
This is it.
This has got to be a lot of fun.
But is there a symphony in your future at all?
No, I'm shunning away from the symphony.
Okay, don't want to go too classic.
No, no, no.
I'm just going to keep traveling around.
And if I get picked up by anybody, that'd be great.
But right now I'm just enjoying life.
Okay, well you're certainly getting picked up on YouTube.
Tell us real quickly about this particular instrument.
It looks like it's a little modified.
It's an electric violin made by Yamaha.
It's the SV-130 model.
And I got it at Peter's Violin Shop out in Anchorage, Alaska.
The violin itself doesn't loop.
It's the pedal that loops, which is an RC-2 or RC-3 loop station.
And it's fun.
Well, Bryson, thanks so much for coming down.
I know folks who are watching are eager to hear you play.
So thanks for coming down and sharing your immense talent with us.

Take it away.
