Start Jamming...
[E] This little tune that Moles Rager said he got the start of it from a fellow named, an African American friend, his name Amos Johnson.
And so Amos was playing around.
[F#] [E] And [E] so Moles, you know, he took it and added a little more to it.
He said one night he was at Grandpa Jones's house, of course, Moles played for Grandpa Jones a while.
One time Grandpa Jones, you know, he originally, some of his first records, Merle played on them.
And Grandpa said, well, Merle, can I get somebody that plays like you, Merle?
So why don't you get Moles Rager?
So Grandpa did.
And Moles traveled with [Em] Grandpa for about a year.
So anyhow, Moles had been fooled with this little song.
So they were at Grandpa's house one night.
And Merle was sitting in the floor and Moles played it.
And he said, so Moles, he got so excited, he just turned to flee.
And he said, then Merle went and recorded it the next day and he wrote the words about Moles.
[A] I could get off you singing.
All right.

Way down in old [F#] Kentucky, there's a fellow mighty lucky by the way, he [G] makes the guitar moan.
Hanging around, singing around the company store, [F#]
picking like a chicken [B] goes picking up corn.
[E] All the gals in the [F#] county gather all around him.
He's got rhythm in his bones.
Feet start [Em] scooting with shuffle and [F#] drag.
Every time I hear the rhythm of [E] the guitar rag.
Makes [A] it moan and tone.
[Em] Gets it grumble and [E] groan.
[F#] When he starts to picking and plucking the strings, he can [F] make a deacon do the [E] bucking wing.
Well, the fat [Fm] and the skinny [F#] do a little shimmy.
[B] Then the head starts to wiggle and wag.
Feet start [E] scooting with shuffle and [F#] drag.
Every time I hear the rhythm of the [E] guitar rag.
