Ed Sheeran's journey to the Pyramid Stage chords
Start Jamming...
[A] [D] Darling I will be [G] loving you [A] till we're [D] 70
Headlining the Pyramid stage on [G] Sunday is one [A] man, his [D] guitar and a songbook bursting with a common touch and global appeal.
[G] It's the red hot Ed [A] Sheeran.
[D] Independently releasing music since the [B] age of 13, the [A] talented former choir boy had his breakthrough in the late noughties and the spotlight soon beckoned.
But now, a marvellous new artist from Suffolk, let's welcome Ed Sheeran.
[Bm] They say she's in the class [D] A team, she's stuck in her [A] daydream, been this [Gb] way [E] since 18.
[Am] After his debut [E] single [Gb] The A Team [Bm] firmly announced his [D] arrival by shooting straight into the top three in 2011 [A]
and with his first solo album Plus about [Dbm] to drop, there was only one thing left for Ed to [D] do.
Pack his [Eb] bags for a worthy farm.
I only really started paying attention to Glastonbury when [Ab] my friends started playing it and I always tried to get booked on little stages and never could.
It wasn't until BBC [N] introducing said we will book you.
Glastonbury how are you doing?
My name's Ed Sheeran, thank you all for coming out today.
[D] [Em]
And this city never [C] sleeps,
[E] the people walk by when [D] it's late.
[C] And [G] for the lucky few able to catch [D] this star on the rise, he also [G] played a series of even more intimate gigs around the festival that same weekend.
[Ab] I got a [D] set [Ab] on the croissant [E] nerve.
[Em] [A]
[C]
I [A] [Ab] did the acoustic [Gbm] stage.
[D] [Abm] And I played a late one in like a [E] circus tent.
And then [Bb] I played a really [N]
small one without any PA because it broke.
[G]
[E] I think I did 12 in the end.
It was a slug.
It was a slug.
As the sun set on Glastonbury [Dbm] Festival 2011, Ed looked to the future.
I did kind of make [E] a promise to myself after that that I wouldn't go back to Glastonbury unless I was playing on the Pyramid [Ebm] stage.
[Fm] [Gb]
Three years later in 2014, that Sheeran determination landed him a slot next to Dolly Parton.
I got asked to do the [Fm] Sunday afternoon slot and I remember being like I'd rather play at night.
[B] And it did end up being the best slot I could [Ab] have had.
[E] Parents with kids wanting a sing-along and that was [Dbm] what I had to offer.
One, two, three, [Abm] six!
And now with four Brit Awards, two [E] Ivor Novellos and a Grammy under his belt, the Suffolk lad has a whole lot more to [Dm] offer.
His latest album Divide smashed records in March when he became the first artist to have every [D] song from an album enter the Top 20 Singles chart.
Nine of those in the Top 10.
Now a global phenomenon who has filled Wembley Stadium three times in a row, this humble man with his guitar is more than ready to rock the Pyramid stage.
The Pyramid stage this time I think will be definitely like the [A] biggest night [Dm] time slot that I've done.
The only way to win it in Glastonbury is to play songs that people know.
Even if you don't like my music, you will [D] have heard it somewhere on the radio and having a sing [Gbm]-along with your mates is always quite fun.
