Easy Patterns for Piano Accompaniment - Play and Sing - Chords 101 chords
Start Jamming...
So here are the three basic ways I come to myself on the piano when I'm singing
Here's how I'll comp behind my voice
Play either left right left right or both left left left
[C] Or I'll just hold the chords
My right hand is gonna play a chord my left hand is gonna play the root of the chord or whatever my thumb is doing
Here, so here's left right left, right?
If you're doing something in three four time that sounds good to do left right left right, right?
And then [A#] something good for some rock patterns is to do [C] both hands
left left left like this
[E] and
something great for jazz or ballads or if you're
[D#] Doing something with a lot of keyboards or [C] organs you can just hold the chord for four beats
So left right left right is great
That's my basic pattern.
I go through all the time when I'm playing and singing for up-tempo songs [G] if I want something energetic
So here's how oh blood these sounds with the left right left right pattern
Desmond has his barrel in [D] the market place
My is a singer [G] in bed
And of course you can [Dm] add other bass notes into your left hand so you can [G] alternate between other notes from the chord G
Yes, and as is better [D] place
now for [C#] the rock thing for the both hands left left left left whatever
That pattern would sound good on a song like Bon Jovi's summer of 69
[C] Got my first real six [G]-string
But at the five and down so most of the time my left hand is just going constantly in eighth notes or quarter notes
[C] And your right hand is a little bit extra filler
Got my first [G] End up
You can [C] throw it in whenever you feel comfortable
You
[Am] [Dm]
[G] can always embellish it to fill in more space because that might get a little boring after a [C] while
[Am] some
[Dm] When I'm awfully [G] low
[C] And [Am] that gives [N] you the basic idea of how that would sound and how you play and sing with that
So if you get these basic patterns down
It's really easy to add a little bit of variation in the rhythms to create a whole bunch of new vocabulary for your playing
