[E] [Dm] I remember seeing the ads in the back of I don't know what magazine, but I was aware
of Carbon around 1960.
I used the vintage amps and had some really good luck with them.
I didn't pursue the guitars, but I tried out the vintage amps [N] and really liked them.
I have not blown a Carbon amp up yet, and I've tried.
I haven't even blown a speaker yet, which is pretty rare.
And I got some home recording equipment too, some boards and stuff from Carbon and one
of the tube mics.
I was really surprised.
Really good stuff, you know?
And also, you know, Frank Zappa was a good friend, and he always told me about Carbon.
Carbon, Carbon, Carbon.
Calm it, calm it.
They're great people.
I'll just tell you about this guitar.
I decided to get a custom guitar.
And I looked through the catalog and picked out woods and picked out pickups and the bridge and everything.
And I got this guitar, and I absolutely [A] love it.
[D] [A]
[D] [A]
The weight, it's light.
[Em] The feel, the wood, it's got great sustain.
That bridge is right down on the body.
And in so many guitars, the bridge is up on the posts, up, you know, far.
And I don't like that because it bends, it can go out of tune.
This is like an old Les Paul, where the bridge is right on the body.
And I can't get anybody to do that.
I can't get even Gibson to do that.
This is like the old Les Pauls, you know?
And it's just, I can get way up here, I can get way up high.
And the scale is such, I have huge hands, I can't play mandolin, my hands are too big.
[A] And I can [C#] play way up high and clean.
[C]
[A#] [Em]
[D] [G] I've had a couple guitars made by other companies.
And it's kind of, you gotta wait and see.
You gotta kind of wait and see.
And it might be what you wanted, it might not.
But I mean, down to the finest detail with Karvin,
I was able to have a say in how it was set up and the action.
And I'm just thrilled with this.
And I don't know anywhere else you can get an American-made, solid, great
hardware, great pickups, guitar, and be involved in designing it.
I don't know anywhere else, including all the major companies,
where you can get that kind of feedback and involvement from the company.

[Am] [Dm] That's all I've [F#m] been playing.
Yeah, I was just in the studio today working on Eagle Songs.
And this is what I played.
And I got a great sound with it.
Much to my amazement.
I don't know why I didn't do this a long time ago.
I'm going to take this out on the Eagles tour.
We're going to Australia and Japan and Hong Kong and Bangkok
and Singapore and South Korea.
A lot of places I've never been.
But I'm [E] just thrilled with this.
You know, it's finite little things.
I can show you a couple things here.
This space between the high E string and the edge of the fret is critical.
And on a lot of guitars, the string will be off-centered.
On this guitar, it's exactly perfect all the way up.
Same with the E.
It's exactly perfect all the way up.
One thing I can't stand about pickups is when the pickup is off to one side
and the string isn't over the pole.
You know?
And on so many guitars, it's just not lined up right.
And that's critical for sustain for me.
I might be superstitious, but a string's got to be right on the pole.
And this is perfect.
This is aligned just perfect all the way up.
And it's that kind of care, that kind of care, that kind of awareness
that I don't find in other companies.
I don't know anywhere else where you can get a guitar made that
is the quality that Carbon has.
