And like I remember her laugh so vividly
Cause that's like one of like the main things that you would hear from her
You know, our moms were best friends [C] Yeah
Honestly, it was [G] hard kind of like being far from her
Because during this time I was in LA
So [C] like there was really nothing I could do
[Dm] Except for like, you know, be on the phone with her and just like be there
I [C] remember that call just [Cm] like perfectly
[Bb] Like I remember how exactly [C] that went down
Just how I said in [Cm] the song like I thought you were joking
I think it was more like just shocked
[Eb] Because I like didn't want to like [Ab] make myself believe that
It was just so surreal
Yeah, it didn't feel real
[C] So I was just like there's no [Cm] way, you know
And then like when I told my mom
Cause my [Ab] mom didn't know, my mom was out on the porch
When this happened
And then [Fm] I went out there and I told her
It was almost like she kind of knew
[F] In a way everyone kind of did Yeah
Cause she had been battling cancer
For the past year
I think she just got that gut feeling
That like something was off that day
I think it [Dm] was at your guys' house [F] more than it was at mine
I'm gonna be honest
To my mom, she was her best friend, you know Yeah So
Our families have just always been like super close
That going down, like all I wanted to do was be there
But I also knew
It just felt like maybe it might be too much
If I went there, you know, like right away
It's just hard too, cause like we were like 10 and 11
Yeah, so young
And so like going through something [Bb] like that is just [Eb] like
[Ab] Life altering, like you don't ever expect [Gm] that Like [C] Yeah
It's just really eye opening [Cm] to like how life really is
I [Eb] get like in the song, I was telling Dylan [Ab] that like
Obviously it's more personal to me and [C] my [Cm] story
And my mom's story
[Eb] But the whole song is just about [Ab] losing a loved one
A parent and someone close to you
So I hope [Cm] someone listening to that song like realizes [Eb] that
They're not alone in [Ab] like any way
And that there's people that go through this [Cm] like daily
Unfortunately and that [Eb] there's always gonna be someone
There for them [Ab] and that they can relate to
And that things truly like do get better like

With time like things really do start [Cm] to move forward
