Hey, good to see you.
Good to see you again.
Have a seat.
Nice job.
Now you're doing that, I hear that in that Gap commercial now. Yeah.
It's kind of cool.
Yeah, well, it's fun.
I asked, we did, it's fun.
How did this happen?
How did you get this?
They were going to use the first single we ever did, Honky Tonk Man.
They came to us a few months ago and said we'd like to do that in the Gap.
And I'd seen the swing ads they did last year and I thought, well, that's not, you know, anything.
It's a company that's not bad to necessarily be associated with.
I agreed to that.
And the week they were going to shoot the spot, somebody had a brainstorm and called us and said,
instead of that, would you cut something if we suggested something?
I said, well, what?
They said, Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
I said, yeah, I love that song.
So we did it.
We went and did it and had a ball with it.
There you go.
Now let me ask you, in the ad, they're line dancing.
Now you seem to move pretty good.
Are you a line dancer?
No, no.
I'm a non-dancer.
You're shattering my dream.
I've not spent too many years in nightclubs watching other people at different times, various times.
Different people make kind of fools of themselves.
Come on now.
Well, I don't know how that works.
Are you afraid the hat would move?
Is that a problem?
Well, no, I'm not worried about the hat moving.
We've moved the hat all different directions here, Jay.
We've moved it all around.
No, I think, you know, I don't know.
It's a bit of an inhibition of mine.
I mean, when I'm performing, I don't mind moving around.
Because you move around, you kind of got the leg thing going.
You're doing this thing.
I go, it looks like dancing.
But, no, it's in context.
It's a contextual thing.
Contextual?
Certain, yeah, well, I mean, you do certain things in the privacy of your own home that you don't do out in public.
A lot of things, probably.
And, you know, if you do do them in public, you get in a lot of trouble.
Well, in the privacy of my song, I kind of move around and dance.
But, you know, if I'm not, you know, with a guitar in my hands, I'm performing and singing.
Now, you're directing a movie?
I'm a little inhibited about that.
You're directing a movie?
I don't want to get into what you mean.
No, I'm not.
You're directing a movie?
I'm a little addle-brained here.
The last five weeks I've been in Arizona directing.
Slightly addle-brained.
Fully addle-brained.
I'm not going to commit to it fully.
I saw you in Swing Blade.
I thought you were just doing a wonderful job.
Is this your first time doing a director?
Yeah, I've directed most of my videos over the last six, seven years.
And this was a piece that I wrote about five years ago with a couple of partners.
And I rewrote it with Billy Bob's encouragement as a piece to direct.
So, I went out and he came and played a role in it.
And we're having fun over there in Arizona.
We'll finish it up in the next couple of days.
So, the next step is line dancing.
It's the only thing you haven't done.
Yeah, from that.
Writer, director, up for awards.
It's a natural segue, isn't it?
Next time you come on, you line dance.
We will break the fear.
We'll break the barrier of fear.
And you will walk across to the next dimension.
Thank you.
Dwight.
I'll line dance across.
There you go.
Good work.
[G] [D] Hey, sound like nothing.
[G] [D] Yes, Dwight, [N] line dancer.
You're welcome.
This is his new CD here, Last Chance for a Thousand Years.
Nice work.
Come back with a film when it's done, Will.
Well, I will.
John H.
John, thank you very much.
Will and Grace is the show.
Nice job.
And I'll see you next time.
