I was with EMI and I recorded an album called Jungle.
[D] And it was right during [F] that [Gb] MTV [E] thing, you know.
And [C] I was noticing it seemed like anybody that got a hit [N] record, they had to have a video to go with it.
[Bb] Well, unfortunately I didn't [A] have a video in my contract.
So [Ab] I started thinking about [F] it, you know, I really would like to have a video.
[Gb] So, you know, EMI America is a big company.
[F]
And they had big offices out in [Bm] California.
[Ab] And they had like a [Bb] conference room where [A] all they would do is just, you know,
[G] once or twice a week they'd go in [D] and look at somebody else's video,
[A] and [E] some bigwigs would sit and talk to each other.
[Ab] So, and I knew that they [A] knew that they all liked this record, I [E] was getting ready to put it out,
and they liked it as a single.
But like I said, no [Eb] video in my contract.
[D] And so what I did was, literally, I just went every day [E] to the record company,
sat down [D] in that room, that conference room, [E] conference room by [N] myself,
and I watched videos.
All day long.
Every day.
[A] And occasionally you'd have somebody go and scroll through and be like,
what you [Eb] doing in there, go on.
You know, [Dm] looking to see what kind of, [F] you know, who are the [Gb] best directors of these video things.
That's [B] interesting, go on, see you later.
[A] So I kept on doing it, pretty [Em] persistent, just [Bb]
every day just kind of sitting in there
and [Fm] finding the right person after [Ab] a while.
[E] And he'd ask me [D] the same questions, and I'd watch him.
A couple [G] of his buddies would go, [A] what you doing in there, go on.
You know, just watching these videos that people are doing,
[F] trying to see who the [Gb] best directors of these videos are.
And the guy gets this ingenious idea, and he goes, you know,
we ought to do a video on your new song.
And I was like, really?
[B] [D] I never would have thought [E] of that.
[C] So anyway, it turned out that we did a video [Gb] over the Christmas time,
and even the Playboy, but, you know, it was usually about $50,000 for a video.
And Playboy channel got involved, and there was an R-rated version.
And it turned out to be like a $135,000 video, just sitting in a room for four or five days.
[E] And [Gb] sure enough, it became a hit video [Bb] on MTV, and became [Em] a hit song.
[C] And I want to leave it with you and say thank you so [E] much to all of you for coming out tonight.
And [C]
once I get unsweaty, give me a couple minutes, I'll be glad to sign anything you guys [Am] have,
or get a [E] CD if you want.
Don't forget about the encore.
I [Bb] wouldn't think, wouldn't forget about [Gb] that, but only for you, just you [G] alone.
[E] But anyway, [C] thanks to the club, everybody's been wonderful here tonight.
I've really enjoyed working with all the people [Bb] who've been brought in.
I very much appreciate my band here, [C] the Puerto Rican guys, who [D] learned all this material today.
[E] [C] Anyway, I hope some of you will remember [Bb] this too.

This is such a cheap beat.
I didn't get told to do it.
I wish I knew what you're looking for.
[C] This ain't a care in the world.
[D] This money ain't worth a shit.
It's a piece [G] of shit.
I don't want you to tell me you love me.
That's all that I want when you look at me.
But you think I hurt you deep.
But I know that I've been taken as you need.
