Now we're going to do a bit of grooving, [Em] moving.
Do you like it?
Oh.
[D]
Special delivery, [Eb]
[N] ladies and gentlemen.
Wait for it, wait for it.
[Eb] He's a typical ladies man, he loves to shake a few hands in the front of the audience.
[N]
Ladies and gentlemen, this is our dear friend and amazing, amazing musician.
Nile Rodgers!
Shall I tell them a story?
I'll tell them a story.
So, [N] Nile and Joanne Joanne have had a fantastic connection ever since [Abm] that time in 1983.
[N] Anybody?
Any of you guys in the crowd here, any of you guys ever owned a copy of an album [Eb] called Seven and the Ragged [C] Tiger?
[D]
[E] You know [B] that on that album there is a song entitled The [Ab] Reflex.
And if [Cm] you've listened to that album version, [C] it's very nice.
It goes, The reflex is annoying each [E] other, to [Ab] buy the part.
Right.
[D]
Now, back [F] in 1983, we [Eb] decided that we'd like to put that [C] song out as a single, but it [Em] needed a bit of a [D] revamp.
And we heard [Eb] some stuff that Nile had done, in excess, when [G] we were in [Cm] Sydney, we had a little party.
[Eb] Amazing song called Original Sin, and we made them put it on and on and on, again and again and again.
[D] And so the first name that came up when management said, who do you want to send it to to get a remix, was Nile Rodgers.
So he sent it across from [Db] London to [Eb] New York.
And we got the answer back that he's going to do it, which is great [G] for us.
So three weeks later, when we put it on [F] the tape machine, [E] we
We were expecting something to have, you know, a really beefy kick drum, [Db] you know, a stomping bass.
[C] And maybe a little bit of [Eb] that kind of rinky-dink funky [Cm] guitar that Nile is so [N] famous for.
We sing on the tape machine, [Eb] and what we heard was nothing like that at all.
We put it on, and it went
[Bb] Ref, ref, ref, reflex.
[G]
[B]
[Cm] You just heard the guys that we practiced [Ab] with.
[D]
[N] No spontaneity!
Oh, [Ab] I say!
That's a new one.
[F] [C] And there began a beautiful relationship [Bb] that has lasted 33 [D] years.
We've made, I think we've made some great music together.
[Ab] I love this guy, [Db] I really do.
He's like my brother.
[D] He's a fantastic person to work with.
[A] When he's in the studio playing, he [C] leads with the guitar.
He [D] doesn't talk, he just plays and [C] plays and plays.
He loves to play.
[Dm] The last thing we did was [Eb] we did three tracks on the album Paper Gods [C] together, including Fresh You're Off.
[D]
[C] But we came by [Eb] way of the land of funk, and a song entitled [A] Notorious.
[Ab] That's not what to do when I say [N] no, no, you say
Here we go now!
[Dm]
[Eb]
[Dm] I don't care what you say about it, [Dm]
cause when you're done [D]
[Em] you're
I've done [G] for you, but [A] I'm
[C] stuck,
but [Dm] baby
this
is [C] it.
[G]
[A] Here on [A] the morning, [G] you can still witness.
[A] I didn't know this, [C] I don't want [G] you in the business.
[A] You're the man of my dreams, [G] you can see why you're here tonight.
[D] I [A] was your harbinger.
Baby, [G]
I want [D] you here so [Cm] bad.
[Am]
[Eb] Come on.
[Dm] Cause when you're not around, it's so bad.
Keep the secrets, so [C] nobody's making [Dm] them.
Keep the secrets, so nobody's [D] making them.
You're not an intruder,
[Gm] no, so don't worry about [C] it.
[A] It's never gonna break your [Dm] business.
[C] Baby, [Dm] baby
[Cm] [Dm]
[A] [G] You can still witness.
[A] I didn't know this, [G] I don't want you in the business.
[A] You're the man of my dreams, [G] you can see why you're here tonight.
[A] [G]
[D] [C] I [F] was your harbinger.
[Dm] Baby, I want you here so bad.
Hold on to that.
[A] On the morning, [G] you can still witness.
[A] I didn't know this, [G] I don't want you in the business.
[A] You can [G] still
[A]
[G] witness.
[A] I didn't know [G] this, I don't want you in the business.
[A] You're the man of my [G] dreams, you can see why you're here [A] tonight.
I was your [Am] harbinger.
[G] Baby, I want you here so bad.
[Dm] Keep the secrets, so nobody's making them.
You're not an [A] intruder, no, so don't worry about it.
[C] So [G] don't [Dm] ask why we didn't know.
So don't [A] ask why we ain't [Cm] no snow.
[Dm] And don't ask why [D]
[F] we [Dm]
don't like the air.
[A] We're born with [G] the [Fm] same skin.
[G] We're born with the same skin.
[F] [A] But I'm born with the same skin.
[Gm] [N]
