[E] Hi folks, welcome to my new guitar lessons online
This is something I've been wanting to do for a while and I hope it's a blessing to you
it's not something we're making money from but would like for you to tell your friends and get them on our website and
Get as many people in here finger-picking and having fun as we can
This is the very first one.
And so I wanted to run over some things.
There's a good friend of mine in Branson, Missouri
His name is Jim Stafford, you know, Jim's just a great musician
He's great entertain one of the best entertainers in the world.
And he was on some Clint Eastwood movies
I mean, he's done all kinds of entertaining through through the years for everything from Hollywood Las Vegas
He's been he's had hit songs on the radio spiders and snakes and for him to tell me said oil your best song
Is jazz in the box?
You see you should play that everywhere you go and [B] I had not [E] been and I started playing a [A] lot more often
And and so I thought well, that'd be a good one
We'll [E] take Jim's advice on that and the and Jim's a great guitar player.
Let me tell you but here it is [G] jazz about
[E]
[Bm] [A] [Em]
[E]
[A] [D] [A] [D]
[A] [E]
[C] [Bm] [E]
[A] [Em]
[E] [Em]
[A] I [G] [A] [E]
don't know how that works with [Em] us
[Bm]
[G] like this
[Em]
[Bm]
[Em]
We
[Bm] [Em]
[D] [E]
[A#] [Em]
[E] [A] [Em]
[A] [E] [Gm]
[Em]
[B] [Em] [A#] [A]
[E]
[Em] [G] [E]
can go on and on but I wanted to first start off with something here on the very [G] first [Em] lick
[A] [G]
[E] Now I do my pull offs backwards.
I do a lot of [Em] things backwards
[A] so [G]
[E] it's just a series of some little pull [A#] awesome [G]
[E] and
The bass is not like a Chet Atkins type alternating bass is just and I'm muting the bass with this part of my hand
I'm [Bm] [Em]
just playing around that E.
You [Bm] know, he's seven [F#m] and then an F sharp minor [E] and
Then an e7 or actually it'd be a ninth chord there
so
[F#m] [E] And [G#m] I'm doing a double bass which I kind of let up when I [A] when I [E] do this
It's [F#m] [E]
[Bm] [A] [G] just like like a pedal on a piano.
You can let them sustain, you know, or dampen them.
I'm dampening it
[E] [F#m] [E] on that part of [Bm] let up [A] [Em] and
When I do that, I'll let it ring out and don't touch those first two strings
[E]
[Em] See, they're still going
[E] That gives you a different dimension
It gives I don't know sort of the idea that there is more than one guitar player
That's kind of what you want to do because you can't afford that other guy I guess you know
[F#m] [E]
And [Bm] [A] [Em]
[E]
[A] [Em] [E]
there's a little [G] bass
[E]
[A] [D] same [A] type thing on an A
[D] [A] [D] [A]
[Bm] [A] [Em] [E]
[A] again, [Bm]
[A] and there's a little hammer on [D] [Am]
[G] [A] [Em] and that hammer on is on the third [A] string [D] [A] and
[D] [A]
That's a little pull up pull up.
[D] [A]
[C] And this is a C ninth and then
[A] And it goes back to this like a four over five like an A
[E]
but I just have three [A#] notes there are three my hand on my fingers on three notes and is a
[C] And the second third and [E] fifth and just move it down
again, let those [Bm] first [E] strings ring in ring out [C]
[B] [E]
and that's it's like running a C up two [D] frets [C#] [E] and
Again, you're letting those first especially the first string ring out
[D] And [E]
[G] [E]
[Em] [E]
that's another lesson jazz in a box
This is something I've been wanting to do for a while and I hope it's a blessing to you
