[B] [A] Okay, another [D] really cool thing that I use constantly, and I call it my cheater technique
because the real technique, like let's say cross picking.
[G]
Okay, I'm not really fast at that, but it's like a banjo roll.
Okay, and most guys like Johnny Highland and Danny Gatton, I think Brent probably does
it too, I don't know, use it as a roll, you know, it's all [Dm] three fingers, middle and ring,
or whatever, if [D#] you use a thumb pick it would be your first two or whichever.
What I do, I call it reverse cross picking, Doug Seven cross picking, because nobody else
that I know of does it, but it works really well for me and it might be better for you too.
I just kind of was too lazy to learn how to,
[B]
[A] yeah I can't, but I might work on that, because
that's the customary [B] traditional way of doing it, but just like everything else I don't do that.
What I do is two down strokes with the pick, [C] and then up with the finger,
[G]
[G]
and just do that
over and over, down, down, up.
[F] [G] I want to show you [D] a couple cool runs that I do, and of course it determines, what determines
the speed that I can go at, is just the song, the meter in the song, and how much energy
I have at the moment, but I'll show you a couple cool lines that you can work on that
technique, either way, you can do it like me, see how droppy it got, but to me it's
cleaner, you [C]
[G] [D] know, so I'll show you a couple cool runs that you can do with that one too.
Alright, here's one in D, and it runs up, I'll do it fast first here,
[C]
[E] [A#]
got kind of choppy
at the end, I'll try it again.
[D] [C]
[Em]
[Cm] [E] Okay, that's why it got choppy, because I ran out [Dm] of space to do it, but [D] it's a down
stroke, slide into it, [F#] and then another down [C] stroke with the finger.
[D]
[G] [D] [F#]
[G] [Bm] [E]
Okay, that can be used as, like [D] that, that was more like a 16th note, like a train beat,
[G] [A] or you can do it in triplets, where it's kind of like,
[D] [Bm]
[Dm] see what I mean, that sounds pretty
cool like that.
Okay, here's that run up close up.
[G] [D]
[F#] [Bm] [C]
[E] [D] [C]
[G] [D] [G]
[A] [G] [F#m]
[Bm] [C] [C#m] [E]
[G] Okay, and I'll show you another cool one where, you know where I use it in this particular
lick, I use it so much, but I'm just going to show you a few right now.
Where I use it in, in the song Cloud 7 that I did, I don't know if you've heard it yet
or not, it's on the CD that might be released when I'm 90, but it's the one, I kind of stole
it from Brent, it's his type of run, but it uses the same type of thing, it's,
[D] [B]
[G] so I'll
show you that.
[B] [Dm] [G]
And that's a cool, like a stair [F#] climbing type of thing, rather than falling down, it's a,
it's a, like a stair [G] climb.
[B] [F]
You [Bm] can even go, [Dm] [Em]
you know, you can keep [G] going up.
[B]
[G]
Okay, that's a really cool one to play [F#] around with too.
That can be used as a triplet off.
[A]
[A] [G]
You see what I mean?
That can be used, think of all types of different ways you can do it, and on different beats,
you know, on different [E] parts of the.
