[Gm] Hey, how you [C] doing?
Joe Ajello here [F] at Six String Guitars in [Gm] [C] beautiful, sunny California.
[F] And we're here today to talk [Gm] about DiMarzio [C] pickups.
[A] [D]
[Am]
[C]
I've been experimenting [D] with different
pickups [F] lately and just swapping out different combinations and seeing what works the [G] best.
This guitar [C] is a little mid-range heavy, so [A#]
it's been [F#] a little [Dm] bit of an adventure to
see what [D] pickups work best with it.
[G] And right now I'm really loving [Am] what I have now [Gm] in here.
[D] [Em]
[D] [A]
I have the transition pickup in the bridge, [Em] which is the [D] Steve Lucather [G] model.
[D] And I have
an Air [Em] Classic [D] in the neck.
[E] [A]
[E] [F#] [C#m]
[F#]
What I love about the transition is I just keep it backed off
just a little bit and it sounds [F#m] great for rhythm.
[E] And then for lead [A] I can just [E] give
it a little [F#] more power [C#m] and [A]
it's [E] screaming.
[D]
[E]
[A] [E] [F#] [C#m]
And the Air Classic [F#]
is an interesting pickup
for me.
[E] You know, [A] neck [E] pickups can get really muddy and really hard to work with, especially
when you're playing chords and stuff.
And this one has more of like a spongy kind of
[B] tone to [E] it.
It [B] really, really [E] brings out the highs and the lows [B] at the same time.
[B]
[F]
[E]
[B]
[D]
[E]
[C#]
[D] You [E] know, I need to cover a lot of ground [Bm] in [F#] [C#] all the [G] gigs that I play.
In the pop world
we [D] go [E] from screaming rock stuff [D] to [E] real lush, spitting out a lot of stuff.
And I just love
crazy stuff [B] to funky kind of rhythmic stuff.
So I need [E] to be able to really, really [A#] work
[C] all those [E] different types of tones into one [G] guitar.
And [G#] this combo [D] really, [E] really gets
me where I need to be.
[C] [G] [G#]
[D] [E]
[D#] [D]
[G] [G#] [D#] [D]
[E] [D#]
[C] [G#] [E]
If you're looking [D#] for a real versatile [G] set of [F#]
pickups, these are
the [D] ones to go with.
