How are you doing guys?
Great, so awesome to be here.

Is this your first time at Download?
Yes indeed.
[F] I've got monsters of rock [G] t-shirts at home [Eb] that have been begging to come here for years
and years and years.
And it's a real honour to be [G] here, seriously.
You've come a long way [E] haven't you guys?
Longer than anyone.
Unless there's a band from Antarctica, I think New Zealand's probably the furthest country
away getting represented here today.
I think we've [Dm] had another New Zealand band.
Yes you have, yeah.
But they're based in the US, so you [Ab] know, we're still based here.
[E] Lightweights, basically they're lightweights, is what you're saying.
Yeah, that's right.
[N] Are you looking forward to seeing any bands yourself?
[Ab] All of them, as [E] much as I can.
[G] Rob Zombie, Coheed and [E] Cambria, Devon Townsend, [Dm] Dillinger, Escape Land, Aerosmith, holy [F] crap.
It's a good [G] day isn't it?
It's [E] fantastic, it's unreal.

[C] Are you actually on tour now you guys?
We have been, we've done [E] a few dates in Ireland with Airborne, and we've got a few [Gm] dates of
our own after this, but we've [N] also been over here shooting a video.
So we've been pretty busy, this is only a two week trip away from home this time.
But we were here two months ago for a month, [D] touring with Sumo Psycho, which was a hell
of a lot of [N] fun as well.
You came over here to do a video?
You can't come over here for our sunshine, surely?
We've done three winters in a row, so we're so looking forward to coming to England for summer.
Yeah, it's actually just like home at the moment, let's tell winter.
So what is a go to tune for Devil's Skin?
Which song would you suggest people?
To introduce the whole band, this is what we are.
There's one called Elvis Presley Circle Pit, which kind of sums us up.
There's also a song called House 13, which displays a lot of sides of the band really.
None of our songs tend to sound too much the same, so there's a whole lot of different
stuff going on.
I think everyone just needs to come and hear them all.
Yeah, I would say probably as well [G] a song called Animal, which is off our new album.
It's a bit of a slow one, but it's very powerful in the [Gb] vocals.
[N] _ _ _ And_ Limbs.
Limbs, oh yes, Limbs is another [C] one I would like to_
That's another one I would like to_
Really long one, is it?
Yeah, it is actually.
It's [E] long and_
You got to have [Ab] one.
It's long [Eb] and it's twisted and bent, just like us.
[E] Yeah, it's a real great song.
It means you don't have to write as many songs for the album then.
Yeah, true, that's right.
[Bb] How do you guys write?
[E] We just all get together in a room and jam riffs and [E] stuff, and either Jenny and myself
will come up with lyrics.
It's pretty [N] organic really, there's nothing too crazy about it.
[E] We just keep it all real and we just [Eb] thrive off riffing together and just being in the room.
It works.
You know, it works, yeah.
[E] Is that best song written like that?
Well, actually, a bit like the riff of the [A] last album, we had a lot more time for pre-production
for that, so we [D] pieced together a few other bits and pieces, a wee bit different, but
mainly it's just us in [G] a room coming up with ideas, you know.
_ [N] Yeah.
So, give Jenny the quality you most admire in her, and then you give her.
[Abm] Jenny is the most [N] spectacular singer I've ever heard, let [A] alone met, let alone been
in a band with.
[B] What about her personality?
[Eb] Oh, she's the funniest person ever.
Potty [G] humour, oh my god, if you like potty humour, [E] she's the one.
[G] But yeah, just a lot [A] of fun and just so much fun to be in a band with.
I mean, we're [G] all a family.
The drummer's my son, Jenny's my sister-in-law.
You're joking.
So, therefore Nick's auntie, and me and the guitar player look a little bit alike, [Ab] so
everyone thinks we're twins, but we're not.
But it really is a family and we all [A] get on really well and have a great time together.
[N] It's like Christmas, that'd be fun for you.
It is, yeah, it totally is.

Paul's also very, very funny.
Very, very funny with dad jokes, especially.
I'm going to get a stand-up routine from you guys later.

No, he's just real fun to be in a band with [Bm] and yeah, great bass player, great guitarist as well.
Yeah, and just great with songwriting too.
[Ab] And lyrics.
[A] I think with the whole four of us, [Abm] we're focused.
We all know what we need to do, [Eb] what we want to do and we're all passionate.
We [Dbm] all share the same passion and it's easy.
[Eb] So there's never any arguments [N] or dramas.
Everything's just cool.
It's a lot of fun.
Yeah, that's rare.
Yeah, I hear that.
I hear that.
And I've been in a lot of bands over a lot of years and I've always had drummer issues,
right?
And so I grew my own and now it's just working out fantastically.
[Eb] Yeah, why do drummers come with more [Em] than one personal problem?
Not this one.
There should [D] be an advert saying, only one personal problem allowed.
Issues are us.
No, we've struck it lucky.
Nick's a [Eb] fantastic drummer and he's [E] such a treat to be in a band with and I couldn't
be [D] prouder playing on stage with my boy.
You know, it's_
There are a few [N] bands doing that now, haven't there?
Have you noticed?
Maybe you set the trend.
I think Eddie Van Halen started it.
Oh yeah, I'll give him that.
