I want to first of all congratulate you on your assent and say to the number one
How many times have you been there?
Thank you everybody.
Thank you.
[F#] This is our second number one.
What was the last one?
Back and I'm Blue.
Yes.
He's Back and I'm Blue.
Now sometimes, I know it became customary a few years ago to have a number one party in this town.
Are they doing that for you?
I think we had a little bit of a number one in Los Angeles, but we, I'm sure our label [C#] will come [Em] through for us.
Now you've got a very busy week as [E] I understand.
I've got notes on you guys.
You're working the [G] Grand Ole Opry this week?
We're doing the Opry Saturday night and we're going to do a video.
We'll see you out [A] there.
We're going to do a video tomorrow [B] out at Opryland.
[E] It's always been my impression that videos take more than one day.
You're just going to run?
[F#] We're going to hope to [Em] get through a video tomorrow in 12 hours.
[B] We hope to.
We'll see what happens.
Where are you going to shoot it?
[F] We're going to be out here in the [G] grounds in Opryland.
I'm not quite sure.
Some sound stage or something.
[F#] Now which tune will [G] you be doing the video for?
The song we just did, She Don't Love Nobody.
[F#]
This is the next single?
Yes, sir.
Do you know the premise of the video yet?
I know there's a beautiful woman in it.
That's all I know.
They'll lead us through the motions.
That's all you're looking forward to?
[Em] That's probably it, Ralph, at this [D#] point.
Herb, aren't you also appearing?
I think I may have mentioned last night that the Country Music Radio Seminar is in town.
Those are the country music broadcasters from all over the United States.
Right.
Aren't you guys on [B] the New Faces show?
Yes, we are.
You might explain that.
[N] Well, basically it's a showcase, I think, for new talent [E] that [A#] is [F#] on major labels.
Do they still consider you guys new?
Yes, they do.
Yeah, we've been around quite a while.
[Em] Not necessarily as the Desert Rose Band, [G] but in different incarnations.
In this particular one, we're new.
The New Faces show traditionally [F#] has showcased a lot of great acts in the early part of their career.
K.T. Osmond, [E] Randy Travis, I think Alabama, many years ago was on the New Faces show.
[Em]
Actually, how long have you guys been in show business?
20 years, probably.
[Em] Herb and I go back to the early [G] 60s.
We met in Los Angeles and both came from a bluegrass background.
[F] And John, of course, we hooked up with about [Em] four or five years ago.
Herb, didn't you record at one time as a single?
[Dm] I did a couple of solo albums in the mid-70s.
[Em] Was it CBS?
Yes, sir.
[Dm] I was thinking [F#] you did.
Now, are you guys also a part of [Em] the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's [B] project?
I'm not, Chris.
Roger McGuinn and I did a [A] song on the Circle Be Unbroken, which is their new album they're doing.
They have a lot of guest artists on real good [Em] projects.
See, they haven't [G] been here since they did that.
I'm wondering, can you tell me who's on this album?
They've got [F] Roseanne Cash and Michael Murphy, John Denver, [Dm] John Hyatt.
Gosh, there's a couple more I can't remember right off [G] the bat.
Real major talent.
[F#]
You may recall they did volume one of Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
And they had every Bill Monroe, Roy Acuff, had everybody in town on the album.
I think Mr.
Acuff's on this one, too.
And I assume this is [G] just an extension.
Son of [Em] Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
Johnny Cash's.
You know, [G#m] the title song is Will the Circle Be Unbroken, the old gospel song.
And Johnny [C] leads it off.
It's real nice, and everybody sings on it.
Real nice song.
At [G] some point, are you telling me that everybody, all the guest stars sing together?
Yes.
On Will the Circle Be Unbroken, everybody sings on that.
That should be quite impressive.
Do you know when the album is coming out?
I think it's going to be out in a month or so.
It's a project I know they've been working on for some time.
But a good [N] one, too.
