Darryl Dodd is making nostalgia super [G] cool again with a unique approach to celebrating
his 20 year [D] anniversary.
His 2017 album, The [A] Long Hard Ride, features a who's who [D] in Texas music doing duets on
Double D's most memorable tunes.
[Em] Here's Darryl with more of the story.
[D] Yeah, Roger Prager [A] and I have been friends.
Like I say, [D] when I first was coming back to Texas from Nashville, the whole Texas [G] thing
was going on and I had heard a lot about it and knew [G#] some of the guys' names, but
I was in [D] my world up there in Nashville [Em] and had the record deal [A] and everything.
But Pearl Snaps, the [D] song I wrote, went number one in Texas, so we came down [G] here and started
playing and I met everybody.
[D] And Roger and I became [E] good friends and he was just [D] real respectful and saying, hey man,
we've been listening to your music [A] for a long time, love what [G] you've done, come [D] tour with us.
So we started playing shows together [E] and She'll Have You Back, I guess, was a song that [A] he
really loved and [G#] he'd come out and sing it and we'd sing it together.
And [E] his band, a lot [D] of times when we'd open up for Roger, we'd be singing [E] the song and
all of a sudden there'd be a big loud [D] yell and I thought, hey, I just hit a good note or something.
But his band had come out and they were standing to the side of the stage singing [E] Harmony with it.
[G] So it was a lot of fun like that.
So [D] whenever I asked him to sing on the record he was in, [A] he's such a great artist [D] and a
great guy and his vocal is incredible.
[G] And tonight when we do it, I'm looking forward [D] to the live version of this [A] because we haven't
got to [D] perform it together in a very [A] long time.
So [D] he kills it.
He's a great vocalist and you're going to love it.
[E] [G#] [A]

[A]
You held her tight [B] without a care in mind.
While she did her running [E] round, at first you wouldn't [D] face the truth.
You loved her too much [A] to let go.
And though the story had [D] to end, you want to be [A] her [E] fool again.
Friend, there's something [A] you should know.
[D] [A] Oh, she'll have you back, [G#] back to drinking [G] in [D] no time.
Yeah, back to walking on [Am] your [E] knees.
[F#m] Boy, open up your eyes [B] and see the light.
Something just aren't meant [E] to be.
I understand how [D] she can get to you.
She's made more than [F#] one man, yes she has.
[F#m] So try and face the [D] cold hard fact.
She'll gladly [E] have you back, back to drinking [D] in [A] no time.
[B]
[D] Ladies and [E] gentlemen, Mr.
Roger Craig!
[A] Just don't make no [D] sense to me.
Play a game you'll [A] never win.
You asked me here [D] for my advice.
Say she wouldn't [E] break you twice.
Friend, you'd better [A] think again.
[D] [A]
She'll have you back, back to [G] drinking in no [D] time.
Back to walking on your [A]
knees.
[F#m] Boy, open up your [B] eyes and see the light.
Something just aren't meant [E] to be.
I understand how [D] she can get to you.
She's made more than [F#] one man blind.
[C#m] [F#m] So try and face the [D] cold hard fact.
She'll gladly [E] have you back, back to [D] drinking in no [A] time.
So try and face the [C#] cold [C#m] hard [D] fact.
Yes, she would gladly have you [E]
back, back to drinking in [D] no time.
[A] Yeah!
Woo!
[D] [A] Na na na na [E] na.
Oh, [D]
oh, [A] oh.
Thank you!
